The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, recently hosted our annual Ice Cream Social, bringing together undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff for an afternoon of connection and community! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿงก

The event provided a wonderful opportunity for students and professors to step away from the classroom and laboratory, enjoy some ice cream, and engage in meaningful conversations. From welcoming new students to strengthening relationships across research groups, the social highlighted the collaborative and supportive environment that makes our CBE community so special.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event a success. We look forward to many more opportunities to connect, collaborate, and celebrate together!

Congratulations to graduate CBE Christopher Cotter on being selected as a recipient of the 2026โ€“2027 Yates Dissertation Fellowship! ๐Ÿ‘ This fellowship for returning students, like Cotter, recognizes promising graduate and professional students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

After completing his PhD, Cotter plans to pursue a career as a professor and tackle important biological questions to find solutions with life-changing impacts.

Meredith joins TCE after spending the last 26 years at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he served as a professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and as the executive director of the Georgia Tech Renewable Bioproducts Institute. Earlier this month, the UT chapter of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers toured Oak Ridge National Laboratory to learn about research with the Spallation Neutron Source. The tour provided students with valuable insight into interdisciplinary research and career pathways in national laboratories.
