Trinity Health Foundation would like to highlight one of its 2023 Phase I recipients, Centro Hispano.

Centro Hispano de East Tennessee promotes empowerment and civic participation through education, workforce development, youth and family engagement, and community-strengthening initiatives.

Centro Hispano de East Tennessee is the only local non-profit dedicated to meeting the Latino immigrant community's cultural, economic, and educational needs in Knox County and the surrounding region. The mental health of Latino adolescents, particularly in the middle school age group, is impacted by the effects of the global pandemic, the challenge of negotiating a bicultural identity and family structure, and external factors such as discrimination and violence. There is a shortage of local bilingual and bicultural resources or professional mental health providers. However, Centro Hispano is well-positioned to reach this population through deep ties to the local Latino community and strong partnerships with Knox County Schools and mental health-focused organizations such as Harmony Family Center, Helen Ross McNabb, and individual immigrant mental health professionals.

The ultimate outcome is improved mental health support for Latino adolescents in Knox County middle schools through psychoeducational support groups and identity exploration through art, developing a robust referral system with local providers and agencies, and improved family relational health through parent education workshops.

Diferentes organizaciones y proveedores locales ofrecerán servicios de salud tales como citas de atención primaria y salud del comportamiento, vacunas y refuerzos contra el COVID-19, exámenes físicos y vacunas para el regreso a clases, barniz de flúor, mamografías, pruebas de presión arterial y glucosa en la sangre, canastas de alimentos, ¡y más! We are excited to announce the details of our Summer Health Fair! Different organizations and local providers will offer health services such as primary care and behavioral health appointments, COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, back to school physicals and vaccines, fluoride varnish, mammograms, blood pressure and blood glucose tests, food baskets, and more! This is a great opportunity for everyone in the community to take care of their health. Especially for the kiddos to get ready to go back to school. See you on July 21st at 10 a.m.!

Vamos a ofrecer tres niveles virtuales de clases de ingles dos veces cada semana los martes y jueves de 6PM a 8PM. Estas clases empezarán el 6 de junio y terminarán el 27 de julio. Para los tres niveles, tendremos una clase de conversación para principiantes, una clase de conversación intermedia, y una clase de conversación avanzada. A diferencia de nuestras clases normales, no habrá lecciones fijas para cada día, pero el horario será más abierto y flexible. We are going to offer three virtual levels of ESL classes twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6PM to 8PM. These classes will begin on June 6 and end on July 27. For all three levels, we will have a beginner conversation class, an intermediate conversation class, and an advanced conversation class. Unlike our normal classes, there will not be fixed lessons for each day, but the schedule will be more open and flexible.
