🎉 RISING SENIORS! You can start applying now! 💸 The best scholarship search engines will list a wide range of scholarships, including niche awards, sweepstakes, and large national prizes. Most sites also let you create a profile where you can save scholarship applications for later or receive notifications when a scholarship matching your skillset is posted.

Scholarship sites should also let you filter awards by specific categories and characteristics, such as your location, grade point average (GPA), or ethnicity. Narrowing down scholarships is crucial to your success because you’re more likely to win awards that pertain to your unique talents and interests.

Visiting any colleges soon? Here are some tips to help plan!🤔

Register for an official tour through the college's admissions website. A drive-through/walk-through is perfectly fine but an official tour will allow you to hear admissions information and talk to students.

Research before you go! Think about what's important to you so you can make a list of things to ask and what you want to see. (Do they offer your major? How do they award scholarships? How does the housing process work?)

Engage outside of the tour. Check the college's calendar to see what's happening on campus and in the city while you're there! This will help you determine your opinion of the community. Also, talk with other people on campus to get a more complete picture of the college.

Reflect on what you saw. Take pictures and notes of your thoughts, feelings, and ideas immediately after the visit. This will help you compare your visit to other campuses you've seen. Also, talk with your parents and your college counselor about the highs and lows of the visit!

Determine if the college is a good "fit". Does this college seem to be a fit for you academically, socially, and financially? Consult college books, social media, and the campus newspaper/media. If yes - you should add it to your "following" list in Scoir AND talk to your college counselor! 🤓

Are you considering an associate's degree, attending a community college, or a technical college? You can get a SCHOLARSHIP for TUITION & MANDATORY FEES at any of the state’s 13 community colleges, 24 colleges of applied technology, or other eligible institutions offering an associate degree program!

Applicants must complete the Tennessee Promise application by November 2, complete the FAFSA by April 1, attend a mandatory meeting, and complete 16 hours of community service each year to be eligible for the award. See your counselor for more details!
