Ms. Silva will be joining our wonderful kindergarten team. Read more about her below:

“Hello Karns families! My name is Caitlin Silva, and I am so excited to be joining the kindergarten team this year! I previously worked as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant for KCS and as a fourth-grade teacher at East Knox County Elementary School. I also just recently got my Master's at UTK - go Vols!

When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy traveling, cooking, shopping, and spending time with my friends, family, and my Belgian Malinois, Tanna. I will be getting married this October, so my last name will soon change to Mrs. Harvey! I cannot wait to meet all of my students and their families and build a strong classroom community together. I am looking forward to an amazing school year!”

"Hi! I’m Julie Johnson, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Kindergarten team at Karns! I’ve spent the last 20 years teaching young learners, including 16 wonderful years in Kindergarten and 4 years in Pre-K. When I’m not in the classroom, I love spending time with my twins, Calvin and Nola, my twin sister, Jill, and my two playful Siamese cats, Darth and Chewy. I’m so excited to meet my students and their families and can’t wait to share a fantastic year full of learning, laughter, new adventures, and lots of fun!"

🎓 Congratulations to Ms. McSwain, Ms. Finley, and Ms. Kilgore on officially graduating from UTK! 🧡🍊

We are so proud of these incredible student teachers and all they’ve accomplished. They have been such a wonderful part of our school, and will truly be missed at KES! 🎉💛💙

As we wrap up the 2025–2026 school year, we are so proud to share everything the Karns Elementary PTO was able to accomplish together with the support of our amazing families, staff, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners! 🦫✨

Because of YOU, we raised an incredible $38,831 this year and were able to give back in so many meaningful ways — from classroom support and staff appreciation to student events, playground funding, school shirts, treats, family nights, and more!

Some highlights include:
⭐ Over $14,800 raised through Bubble Dash
⭐ Over $8,000 raised through Fall Festival
⭐ $11,000 added to our playground fund
⭐ Nearly $3,000 given back to classrooms in school bucks
⭐ Free Beaver Books for every student
⭐ Monthly staff meals, treats, coffee & snacks
⭐ 8 family and community events hosted throughout the year

This year truly showed what can happen when a school community comes together with a shared goal of supporting students and staff. Thank you to every volunteer, sponsor, PTO member, teacher, administrator, and family who helped make this year so special.

Together, we made a difference — and we can’t wait to see what next year brings! 💙💛🦫
