I'm Dr. Maria Taydem, and over the past 15 years I've taught thousands of students. I'm a chemist, and chemistry is a classic "weed-out course" - one that lots of students struggle with. Seeing this made me switch my focus from chemistry to the science behind learning. I wanted to help students succeed, and science has taught us a lot about how the brain works and how we can optimize learning. Much of what students do to learn isn't effective, and in some cases, it is even counterproductive.
I empower students with top-level study and learning strategies so that they can excel in their courses and enjoy the best that college can offer. There's a lot going on in college, and I help students navigate that, too - how do you make connections and build meaningful relationships? What kind of help do you need, and where do you get it? What should you be doing - aside from excelling in your classes - to stand out so you can get great internships, get into med school or get a fellowship for graduate school, and land your dream job?
