Great to join the College of Veterinary Medicine as they host the Live Animal Mascot Symposium, bringing together live mascot handlers and veterinary professionals from across the country.

Live animal mascots are more than traditions. They are powerful ambassadors for their schools, helping tell each university's story. They create lasting memories, foster school spirit, and provide a meaningful connection that unites students, fans, alumni, and communities across generations.

This symposium provides an opportunity for those entrusted with the care of these beloved mascots to share expertise, discuss best practices, and advance the highest standards of animal care while celebrating the unique role these animals play at their universities.

As we shared stories and memorable moments of our beloved Smokey this morning, it only added to my excitement and anticipation of seeing Smokey run through the T in Neyland Stadium in just a few months, with our fans cheering him on as we kick off the Tennessee football season.

It’s been great welcoming new Vols to Rocky Top for Vol 103, our summer orientation! Grateful for our outstanding orientation leaders and proud of the hard work they’ve put into giving our newest Vols and families a Big Orange welcome.

With our leadership team taking on different adventures this summer, it was great to connect over Zoom! I'm excited to see Caroline Marcus lead SGA as Student Body President, alongside Anna Beth Thompson & Cade Simmons in key leadership roles.

Great morning on Rocky Top with my Cabinet during our retreat. Productive conversations, thoughtful discussions, and a strong sense of momentum for what lies ahead. Grateful for these outstanding leaders and the work we're doing together to reach the next level as a university.

Yesterday, amid the transformational announcement of Jimmy and Dee Haslam’s $130 million investment, I had the privilege of talking with them about leadership, service, and their journey as Tennessee Vols.

It was a remarkable day that reflected the power of vision, generosity, and leadership, and one of many memorable moments from our time together.

Great to welcome the UT System’s Executive Leadership Institute to Rocky Top today. Thanks to members of my Cabinet and our cohort members - Sally Morris, Hannah Wright, and Ryan Moore - for helping me welcome this dynamic group to campus.

In December 2021, I met Reese Quinlan at a prospective student event. Fast forward to May 2026, and she is now a proud , a former student in our Leading with Courage class, and served as a student assistant for the course for the past two years. We will miss her on Rocky Top!

Torch Night is one of my favorite traditions on Rocky Top. Congratulations to the Class of 2026! I can't wait to see all the ways you will light the way for others, here and beyond.
