Can you receive the Holy Spirit... and still not fully understand His ministry? 🤔🔥

Many believers know about the promise of the Holy Spirit, but have we taken the time to understand what happens beyond that promise?

In this New Man Training (NMT) excerpt, we explore four important dimensions of our relationship with the Holy Spirit:

The PROMISE.

The RECEIVING.

The INDWELLING.

The WALKING.

Jesus promised His disciples another Comforter:

📖 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.” — John 14:16 (KJV)

But the promise wasn't simply about an extraordinary spiritual experience.

It was about God's continuing presence and work in the lives of believers.

Peter declared:

📖 “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off...” — Acts 2:39

And Paul reminds us:

📖 “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” — Galatians 5:25

Notice the progression!

Knowing the promise is not the same as understanding the Person.

And acknowledging His presence is not the same as consistently yielding to His leading.

The Holy Spirit isn't merely someone we discuss during Bible study.

He is the Spirit of truth, who glorifies Jesus Christ and works within believers to produce spiritual growth.

📖 John 16:13–14

Here's the question:

Have we become so focused on whether someone has RECEIVED the Holy Spirit that we've neglected to teach what it means to WALK in the Spirit?

Because spiritual maturity isn't measured simply by what we know or what we've experienced.

It's also reflected in how we respond to His leading.

💬 Which deserves more attention in our discipleship today: understanding the promise, recognizing His presence, or learning to walk in obedience?

Can you be baptized in water... and still remain unchanged? 🤔💧

Baptism is a powerful expression of faith. But does the act of entering the water automatically mean we've experienced spiritual transformation?

In this New Man Training (NMT) excerpt, we're examining an important distinction:

Baptism as a public testimony of faith versus the inward transformation that comes through Jesus Christ.

📖 “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead... even so we also should walk in newness of life.” — Romans 6:4 (KJV)

Notice the emphasis.

NEWNESS OF LIFE!

Water baptism is not simply about getting wet, participating in a ceremony, or fulfilling a religious expectation.

It points us toward something much greater: our identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

But here's the question:

Have we confused the outward expression with the inward reality?

📖 “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3

Jesus wasn't merely calling Nicodemus into another religious activity.

He was revealing the necessity of spiritual rebirth.

And Paul reminds us:

📖 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature...” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Baptism matters.

Obedience matters.

But our confidence must ultimately rest in Christ and His transforming work, not merely in having participated in a ceremony.

The question isn't simply:

“Have you been baptized?”

It's also:

“Is your life being transformed by the One your baptism points toward?”

💬 Are we teaching people to understand the meaning of baptism, or merely encouraging them to complete the ceremony?

Is there a SECOND baptism that believers need to understand? (Feat. Felicia Lyde)🔥🤔

John the Baptist made a remarkable statement about Jesus:

📖 “He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.” — Matthew 3:11 (KJV)

But what exactly does that mean?

Is John describing water baptism, baptism with the Holy Spirit, and fire as separate experiences?

Or have we sometimes confused the symbolism with the substance?

In this New Man Training (NMT) excerpt featuring Felicia Lyde, we're examining the difference between receiving the Holy Spirit, experiencing His power, and understanding the PURPOSE behind that power.

Jesus told His disciples:

📖 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me...” — Acts 1:8

Notice something important.

The POWER had a PURPOSE!

It wasn't simply about an extraordinary spiritual experience.

It was about becoming witnesses of Jesus Christ.

And here's where context matters.

Matthew 3:12 speaks of judgment and unquenchable fire, while Acts 2:3 describes tongues LIKE fire.

Are these passages describing the same thing?

We shouldn't assume so without examining Scripture.

The Holy Spirit's ministry isn't merely about what we experience.

It's about who He reveals.

📖 “He shall glorify me...” — John 16:14

And that Person is JESUS CHRIST.

💬 Are we more focused on experiencing spiritual POWER than understanding the PURPOSE for which it was given?

Is the promise of the Holy Spirit really for EVERYONE? 🤔

Or was it only for the apostles and those who experienced Pentecost?

Peter made a remarkable declaration after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit:

📖 “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” — Acts 2:39 (KJV)

Notice what Peter didn't say.

He didn't limit the promise to those standing in front of him.

He included their children.

Those who were afar off.

And as many as the Lord would call.

But here's something else worth examining:

What exactly IS the promise?

And are we confusing the promise of the Holy Spirit with particular manifestations of His ministry?

📖 Acts 2:38 connects repentance, baptism, and the gift of the Holy Ghost.

📖 John 14:16–17 reveals Jesus' promise of the Comforter, the Spirit of truth.

📖 Romans 8:9 reminds us that belonging to Christ and having His Spirit cannot be separated.

The Holy Spirit isn't merely an experience we pursue.

He is the Spirit of God, given to dwell within believers, guide us into truth, and glorify Jesus Christ.

The question isn't simply whether the promise is available.

It's whether we understand WHO has been promised and what His presence means for our relationship with Christ.

💬 Have we spent more time debating the manifestations of the Holy Spirit than understanding His ministry in the believer's life?

What if repentance isn't God pushing you away... but God calling you BACK? 🤔

We often hear “repent” and immediately think condemnation, punishment, or shame.

But biblical repentance is a call to turn.

To reconsider the direction we're going.

To turn from what is separating us from God's will and return to Him.

📖 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out...” — Acts 3:19

That's not merely a threat.

There's restoration in that invitation.

Sometimes repentance means admitting:

“I was wrong.”

“I've been going in the wrong direction.”

“My thinking needs to change.”

“My choices haven't reflected Christ.”

And instead of defending where we've been, we choose to turn toward where God is calling us.

📖 “The goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance.” — Romans 2:4

Notice that.

His GOODNESS leads us to repentance.

Repentance isn't simply feeling bad about what we've done.

It's choosing restoration over resistance.

It's saying:

“Lord, if You show me where I'm wrong, I'm willing to turn.”

And that's important because conviction isn't the same as condemnation.

Conviction reveals what needs to change and calls us toward God.

Condemnation leaves us believing there's nowhere to go.

But in Christ, there IS somewhere to go.

Back to Him.

💬 What if the thing God is asking you to repent of isn't evidence that He's finished with you—but evidence that He's still calling you?

What if “the writing on the wall” means more than we usually think? 🤔

Most people know the phrase.

“The writing is on the wall.”

We use it when the outcome seems obvious or judgment appears inevitable.

But the REAL story in Daniel 5 is much deeper.

King Belshazzar throws a massive feast and takes the sacred vessels that had been removed from the temple in Jerusalem.

Then he and his guests drink from them while praising false gods.

📖 “They drank w**e, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver...” — Daniel 5:4

Then the hand appears.

The celebration stops.

And suddenly the king wants answers.

But here's where context matters.

Before Daniel ever explains:

MENE.
MENE.
TEKEL.
UPHARSIN.

He reminds Belshazzar about Nebuchadnezzar.

Nebuchadnezzar became proud.

God humbled him.

And Belshazzar KNEW the story.

That's what makes Daniel's statement so powerful:

📖 “And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this.” — Daniel 5:22

That changes the lesson.

Belshazzar wasn't simply ignorant.

He had history.

He had an example.

He had a warning.

And he still chose pride.

Sometimes we're so focused on the famous part of Scripture that we rush past the revelation contained in the build-up.

The writing on the wall matters.

But so does everything that happened BEFORE the hand ever appeared.

💬 Could one of the most dangerous spiritual positions be knowing what God has already shown us... and still refusing to humble ourselves?

Sometimes the revelation isn't only in the point.

Sometimes it's in the context that BUILDS the point. 🙏🏽

Have you ever been so focused on getting to the “point” of a Scripture that you missed what God was revealing on the way there? 🤔

In Daniel 5, everyone wants to know what the writing on the wall means.

MENE.
MENE.
TEKEL.
UPHARSIN.

But before Daniel gives the interpretation, something powerful happens.

King Belshazzar offers Daniel gifts, status, and promotion if he can explain the writing.

Daniel responds:

📖 “Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another...” — Daniel 5:17

Daniel hadn't even reached the interpretation yet...

but there's already revelation in the build-up.

Daniel couldn't be bought.

The king's reward wouldn't determine the prophet's message.

Daniel was prepared to tell the truth whether it came with promotion or not.

Then Daniel reminds Belshazzar what happened to Nebuchadnezzar—how God humbled him when his heart was lifted up in pride.

And Daniel says:

📖 “And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this.” — Daniel 5:22

THEN comes the interpretation.

Sometimes we're rushing toward the famous verse, the punchline, or the “main point”...

while the Holy Spirit may already be teaching us through the context that leads to it.

That's why context matters.

The revelation may not only be in WHAT Daniel interpreted.

It may also be in WHO Daniel had become before he interpreted it.

He could stand before power without needing anything from it.

💬 How much revelation have we missed because we were rushing to get to the verse we already knew?

Maybe sometimes the build-up IS part of the revelation. 🙏🏽

Do our differences disappear when we come to Christ? 🤔

Paul writes:

📖 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” — Galatians 3:28

But what does that actually mean?

Paul wasn't saying our ethnicity, gender, culture, or backgrounds suddenly disappear.

He was addressing something deeper:

Our standing in Christ.

📖 “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” — Galatians 3:26

In Christ, none of those distinctions gives someone greater access to God.

No ethnicity makes someone more valuable.

No social status makes someone more accepted.

No human category gives someone a greater claim to God's promise.

Our differences may describe us...

but they don't determine our worth before God.

And Paul concludes:

📖 “And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” — Galatians 3:29

That's the bigger picture.

Different people.

Different backgrounds.

One family.

One inheritance.

One Christ.

So here's the question:

If Christ doesn't use our differences to determine our spiritual worth, why do we sometimes use them to determine one another's?

Unity doesn't mean we're identical.

It means our differences don't determine our value, access to Christ, or inheritance in Him.

💬 What would change if the Church truly saw one another FIRST through our shared identity in Christ?
