Sitting by the pool
Missing my Krimmel Knights but
Learning's cool at home.

Have a terrific weekend, Knights!

Krimmel Knights Live for Thursday, 4/2/20. Ms. Langner takes the poetry challenge and shares her own Haiku, then challenges Mr. Youngblood to do the same. Check out the library website and take the challenge yourself. Also, don't forget to join her Zoom on Friday at 2:00 and bring your fur babies! Check Schoology for meeting info. Today is World Autism Day!! We love our students that have Autism and are trying to light our FB page up with people wearing blue 💙💙💙. Some of our Krimmel staff have shared photos wearing blue. We’d love to see your photos as well!

Today is World Autism Awareness day! Most of us now know someone on the spectrum, whether it be a student, neighbor, family member or friend. The CDC estimates 1 of 54 will be diagnosed with autism. Most of these people are living joyful, fulfilling lives. They bring light and love to those around them. Though there are differences, these special people have feelings, hopes, dreams and ideas like any of us!
Our request is that we have more understanding, patience, empathy and kindness towards those we may encounter on the spectrum. Let’s be informed advocates and friends to those diagnosed. Let’s support and lift up their families and friends! #worldautismawarenessday

The Death Crawl scene from Facing the Giants

Krimmel Knights,
The building may be closed, but we want to continue our character education lessons. Our focus for our March Mindset was on "Facing Your Giants."
We did this lesson the week before we left for Spring Break, but thought it would be great to share with our families in case you wanted to have some discussions at home.

Facing Your GIANTS
Welcome to March Mindset! We are going to be spending the month making sure our student’s minds are in the right spot. We know that this is a stressful time of year. They are picking courses for next year, preparing for tests, and some of them are planning their next four years in high school. As teachers and staff, we are helping them prepare to meet goals. This time of year is when we see our hard work pay off. It is not just stressful for them, but also for us, as we have worked all year to prepare them for the next steps. As we approach this stressful time, it is so important that we are in a good head space and we are training our minds to think positively. Over the next several weeks, we are going to be talking about how our thoughts can shape our actions.

Week 1: (Tuesday, March 3rd)
Please follow these directions for week one.
The students will need their Core Values Journal for this assignment. The students will start off by watching a 6 minute video clip from the movie Facing the Giants. The clip can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sUKoKQlEC4 Once the clip is done, we would love for you to have a discussion with the class. Obviously, some conversations may happen organically, but if not, here are some discussion starters.
What is one thing that you noticed in the video?
What was your favorite part?
Which person in the clip did you relate to the most?

In their journals, please have them answer the following questions:
What is a goal you have set for yourself this year? (It can be a school goal, but it does not have to be!)
In the clip Brock had a boy on his back and that made it hard for him to complete the death crawl. What is something in your life that is keeping you from reaching your goal?
Do you have someone who encourages you to meet your goals like Brock had his coach?

The Death Crawl scene from Facing the Giants. An amazing inspiration and always worth another viewing! http://www.facingthegiants.com/buydvd/

Krimmel Knights,
We know it's important to keep our bodies moving during this time, so some neighborhoods are doing "window scavenger hunts." While you and your families are taking walks in your neighborhood, while being 6 feet away from others, you can look for these items in their windows.

We've created some themed days for you if you want to share them with other families in your neighborhood so they can play along!

You just put the item in your front window somewhere so people can find them as they walk by, leave them up and then replace them with the new item on the day shown!

We miss you Knights!

We'd love to see some selfies with items you find in the windows. Post your photos in the comments below!
