This week's Staff Spotlight shines on Coach Eric Sauter, one of our fantastic social studies teachers! 🌟
If you've ever wondered what you get when you combine a UCLA Bruin, a Hollywood extra, a Dodgers superfan, a Bigfoot enthusiast, and a master mechanic—wonder no more! Coach Sauter is our Renaissance man of 6th grade social studies, and he's been bringing history and geography to life at Kleb for an incredible 18 years.
Before Coach Sauter was inspiring young minds with tales of civilizations and continents, he spent 8 years as a respiratory therapist, literally helping people breathe easier. But Texas and teaching called his name, and Klein hit the jackpot when this California native joined our team. He grew up in Glendale, a suburb of Los Angeles, but made the move to Texas as an adult. He may not have been born here, but he's a true Texan now!
Keep your eyes peeled during your next streaming binge. You might just spot Coach Sauter in the background of 90s classics like Melrose Place, NYPD Blue, Chicago Hope, or even John Travolta's A Civil Action! Though ironically, this former background actor would rather curl up with a good book than watch TV any day.
Coach Sauter and his wife, Marcy, have been married for 32 wonderful years and raised three incredible kids who've made them proud. Their oldest, Zach, is a Navy veteran turned Brown University student with med school on the horizon. Their middle daughter, Nikole, is also a Navy veteran and now works as an engineer in California. Their youngest, Danica, is a University of Houston student pursuing her bachelors degree. The Sauter household definitely breeds excellence!
Need your car fixed? Coach Sauter's your guy! This avid mechanic has saved several staff members from pricey repair bills over the years. His garage isn't just clean and organized, it's a shrine to the art of fixing things. If it's broken, Coach Sauter can probably bring it back to life!
He's a certified Bigfoot enthusiast, a Dodgers fan for life, and our current head coach for cross country and tennis, though he's coached basketball and football too. He's a book lover extraordinaire, and he lives by the motto: "If you act like you belong, you can go anywhere!"
What makes Coach Sauter truly special is his infectious passion for teaching. He lives for those classroom conversations where students' eyes light up with excitement about history and geography. Whether he's coaching athletes to reach new personal bests or guiding students through the complexities of world cultures, Coach Sauter brings the same enthusiasm, dedication, and genuine love for watching young people grow.
Here's to 19 years of teaching, 18 years of making Kleb better, and countless lives changed for the better. Coach Sauter, you're not just fixing cars and teaching history, you're building futures! 🎉
