Just updated the page with tons of pictures and new videos! Please, if you can, take a moment to check them out; comment, like, and share! I am creating more detailed instructions for the next generations of Geomatics Club Officers to take over - year to year - and we can keep this page updated on a more consistent basis. Hopefully, we can spread the word of how awesome Oregon Tech's Geomatics Program is, and get more Land Surveyors into this world!

Storm and sewer line - new addition to an already existing subdivision. This was pretty cool to watch and see how they dig the line using the Giant Metal "contraption" to keep the dirt from collapsing in on the workers.
One of the projects I worked on was a 5 mile road construction project, where they tore out the old (unsafe) road, and built a new one. Most of the work I did was Blue-Topping. This was when we had to find the road monuments and record them to be replaced later. We were rushing to get this done before the bull dozers ripped them out! Thankfully the guy running this bulldozer asked us if we wanted help to rip up the asphalt so we didnt have to keep using the breaker bar. This is Dale who I worked with, he is awesome! And I was so glad we were able to work togethar.

One of the projects I worked on was a 5 mile road construction project, where they tore out the old (unsafe) road, and built a new one. Most of the work I did was Blue-Topping. This was a concrete treated base (CTB) so if you waited to long to try and blue top, the crete would have set and becomes near impossible to get you hubs in! So we had to move fast - or as fast as the machines were moving.
Parametrix Engineering 2019: One of the projects I worked on was using a 3d Scanner to help finish up some TOPO for a bridge construction project. Since it was close to the freeway, we decided to use the scanner because we did not want to get in the road.

Some pictures from Professor Walker's Remote Sensing Class (Fall 2019). He wanted to get some drone imagery for the County's Rock Stock Pile Pit. It was a great opportunity to get some of the students help in setting Ground Control Points. As a way of saying thanks, he was kind enough to buy us Subway Sandwiches and some cold drinks. It was really cool to see the new OIT Drone in action and put to the test. He presented the job at the 2020 PLSO conference.
