This year’s inaugural Rugby Alumni Weekend was powered by the passion and dedication of Oregon Tech alumni who flew in from across the country to reconnect, compete, and celebrate the program they helped build. More than 75 alumni, students, and faculty came together for a barbecue, an alumni match, and a weekend full of memories.
Among the leaders who made it happen was Michael Palmer ’05—one of the original founders of the Oregon Tech Rugby Club. Michael first discovered rugby during an internship in Sweden, where he jumped into a match because the team was short a player. He brought that love for the sport back to campus, rallied his football teammates, and helped launch a club that continues to thrive today.
You can learn more about Michael’s journey—and how rugby shaped his life and career—at alumni.oit.edu/stories/michael-palmer.
