Pelican Gathering Preschool fosters creativity and nurtures young minds! We are a curriculum-based, Montessori and nature inspired preschool.

At Pelican Gathering, we create an environment that supports friendship, nurtures individuality and encourages developmental play. Children are guided at their own pace - personally, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Children have the opportunities to try new activities, act upon new ideas, develop new friends, engage in creative problem-solving and refine their choices. A child’s natural

curiosity and eagerness to learn are the best avenues for their development. Parents and families are vital to our Gathering. It’s important for us to work together, and there are plenty of opportunities for you to join us in our great menagerie of activities: read a story, volunteer to drive to a field trip and/or share some-thing special you do or enjoy. Although we follow a curriculum every year, we are also spontaneous, leaving space to adjust ourselves to what we are thinking and feeling each day. Above all, we believe the process to be as important as our goals. We know imparting the joy of learning and empowering the delight of discovery are the greatest gifts we can offer your children. At Pelican Gathering we believe children have a natural love of the world around them and a strong desire to interact with that world. We share your child’s natural interest and aim to guide them with enthusiasm as they navigate both a world completely new to them and their own emerging personalities, emotions and curiosity. Our goal is to provide the highest quality preschool experience, in which your child can celebrate the joy of learning. The opportunities provided at our Gathering help to enrich your child’s life long past the time they spend within these walls. By working together (teachers, children, families) we can facilitate a positive early educational experience, which help inspire a lifelong passion for learning. At Pelican Gathering we think education should not try to stuff a child’s head with facts, but rather, help children discover their own unique gifts and allow them to develop their fullest potential.

We have nailed down the details of summer camp this year! Since Ms. Emily will be in Arizona basically all summer, our summer camp weeks are very late in the season. Each session is $100/child and includes a snack. If your kiddo is enrolled for school with us next year, Session 2 is included with your September tuition--it's not required by any means, but we will still need a registration form back to hold their spot!

Rules to our Fish Escape Game!

Can be played solo, like in the video, or with friends!

Players take turns rolling the dice. Each of the 6 colors are different actions:

If you roll a red, yellow, green or blue, you advance the corresponding fish one spot toward the safety seaweed!

If you roll a white, you may pick any fish to move forward one space.

If you roll a black, you must flip over one piece of the Predator Puzzle.

If the predator puzzle is completed before the fish have escaped to the safety seaweed, those fish get eaten and the game is over!

But if all the fish make it to the safety seaweed before the puzzle is completed, they are all safe and you collectively win the game!

🐍Lizards and turtles and snakes, oh my! 🐢

🦎...and a scorpion, geckos, some frogs and even a crocodile!🐊

Mr. James aka The Reptile Guy came to our school to teach us all about his animals! He has an amazing crew of critters, but I think the turtle races were the biggest hit!

What an amazing morning! Huge thanks to Phoenix Cattle Ranch for hosting everyone! Ms. Jordan and Mr. Nick taught us about their dairy cows, Bella and Dixie. We've been learning about mammals this month, and they pointed out how many similarities there are between cows and humans!

We got to watch Ms. Jordan hook up Bella to the milking machine, and then got to try hand milking Dixie! We filtered the fresh, warm milk to make hot chocolate AND we made our own whipped cream for the top! What a treat!

One of the phrases we like to use in class is "teamwork makes the dream work"! And these kiddos worked together to use every single building block to make a castle 🏰 Great work!

🎃First, we went to Mountain Valley Gardens for a very fun Pumpkin picking day!

🥔 Then we went to Baley Trotman Farms to learn all about potato harvesting, and even got to harvest some ourselves!
