The Science of Homemade Ice Cream: Exploring Freezing Point Depression 🍦🔬

Last week our 11th grade class had the opportunity to make their own ice cream — and learn some serious chemistry in the process!

You might wonder: how does ice + salt make creamy ice cream?

It’s all about Freezing Point Depression.

Normally, ice melts at 32°F (0°C). But when we add salt (NaCl) to ice, the salt lowers the freezing point of the ice. This forces the ice to melt, and melting requires energy — so it pulls heat from its surroundings. In this case, it pulls heat right out of our sweet cream mixture!

The result?
The salty ice bath drops to around -6°F to -10°F (-21°C to -23°C)
That super-cold environment freezes our cream mixture fast
Fast freezing = smaller ice crystals = smoother, creamier ice cream

No freezer needed, just science!

Our students got to see chemistry in action, and of course, taste the results of their experiment. Learning is definitely sweeter when you can eat it!

High school had a GREAT day today! 🙌📚

Our students started the day with Chapel, being reminded that forgiveness brings healing. ❤️‍🩹 They also got hands-on with classroom experiments—learning, creating, and putting their knowledge into action! 🧪

And our Seniors took another big step toward their future by signing up for the SAT! 🎓 They are officially preparing to take on the SAT this November, and Mrs. Gonzales is doing an amazing job with SAT Prep, helping our students strengthen their skills, reach their academic goals, and work toward qualifying for Bright Futures Scholarships! 🌟

At Nazaret Christian Academy, we are preparing our students spiritually, academically, and for what comes next. ❤️💛

🚔💛 A SPECIAL SURPRISE AT NCA!

Today, the Sheriff’s Office surprised us with a special visit and brought sporting equipment that our students were in need of!

We are so grateful for community partners who don’t just say they support our students—they show up and invest in them.

Thank you for seeing a need and helping us continue to create opportunities for our students. This is what community is all about! ❤️💛

🚔 BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS AT NCA! ❤️💛

Today, we were excited to welcome the Sheriff’s Office L.E.A.D. program during our PE classes!

Our students had the opportunity to interact with local law enforcement in a positive and engaging environment while building trust, respect, and stronger relationships with those who serve our community.

At Nazaret Christian Academy, education goes beyond the classroom. We want our students to grow academically, spiritually, and socially while learning the importance of being connected to and involved in their community.

We are grateful to the Sheriff’s Office for investing their time in our students and helping us continue creating meaningful opportunities at NCA.

Strong students. Strong relationships. Stronger communities.

WE FULFILL OUR WORD! 🎓

At Nazaret Christian Academy, when we say we are creating new opportunities for our students, we mean it.

Today, NCA students officially began their first college classes through Southeastern University! They completed their student acknowledgments and took the first step in their Dual Enrollment journey.

We promised our families new opportunities and a stronger focus on academics—and we’re delivering.

Here’s to academic excellence. This is just the beginning! 💛🎓

Senior Sunrise

"A Sunrise, A Promise" — Nazaret Christian Academy Class of 2027

Today our seniors got to experience the sunrise. 🌅
And it was more than just the start of a day. It was the start of a promise.

Class of 2027, look at us.
The same kids who walked into Nazaret Christian Academy with big backpacks and bigger dreams are now standing here as seniors.
We’ve prayed together in chapels. We’ve learned together in classrooms. We’ve served together in ministry.
And this morning, we rose together under God’s sky to begin our final year.

There’s something sacred about watching the sun come up with the people you’ve grown up with.
The quiet prayers. The sleepy laughs. The blankets and coffee. The hope in everyone’s eyes.
This sunrise reminded us: even the longest nights end, and God’s mercies are new every morning.

There will be "last firsts" this year.
Last first Chapel, Last first Prom. Last first graduation.
And in the middle of all the "lasts," may we never miss the beauty of right now.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11

That’s the promise we’re walking into.
A future written by God. A hope that doesn’t fade. A purpose bigger than ourselves.

To my NCA seniors:
Let’s lead with kindness.
Let’s choose faith over fear.
Let’s love our teachers, our underclassmen, and each other well.
Let’s leave Nazaret Christian Academy better than we found it.

Thank you to every parent, teacher, and staff member who prayed us to this sunrise.
And thank You, Jesus, for getting us this far.

Class of 2027... this is our time to shine.
Let’s make it beautiful. Let’s make it count. Let’s make it for His glory. 💛
