Veterinary Assistant Program, Lakeland Community College This innovative and exciting course prepares students for a career in veterinary medicine! Veterinary assistants are in great demand.

Working with veterinarians and veterinary technicians, they help to provide medical care to sick and injured animals. Veterinary assistants work with veterinarians in private practice, animal shelters, animal control facilities, pet stores, kennels and veterinary drug companies. This comprehensive and practical course will provide you with the skills and knowledge that are attractive to employers.

Topics include: client relations, office and hospital procedures, animal nursing, exam room procedures (hospital sanitation, weight/temperature, animal handling and restraint and preventive care protocols), surgical prep and assisting, laboratory procedures, radiology and pharmacology.
