St. Louis Community College and Music at Meramec is proud to welcome Maria Ellis as the next Conductor of the Meramec Concert Choir!

Maria A. Ellis is an internationally recognized conductor, music educator, clinician, and presenter dedicated to creating meaningful and excellent musical experiences for singers of all backgrounds. She is the founder and owner of Girl Conductor LLC and serves as Artistic Director of The Sheldon’s All-Star Chorus and the University of Missouri–St. Louis Voices of Jubilation Ensemble.

Under her leadership, The Sheldon’s All-Star Chorus has performed at Carnegie Hall and became the first high school choir from St. Louis City in nearly 60 years to perform at the Missouri Music Educators Association Conference. Ellis has conducted honor choirs and presented professional development sessions throughout the United States and internationally, including recent work in South Korea.

Ellis earned a Master of Arts in Choral Conducting from Webster University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. Her honors include the University of Missouri–St. Louis Trailblazer Award and Webster University’s Music Educator Award.

Ellis serves as Chair of the National Association for Music Education Choral Council and as a member of the Chorus America Board of Directors. She also hosts two award winning weekly radio programs, American Gospel and Bach & Beyoncé, on Classic 107.3. She is the wife of Marion and the mother of Aria, Kendal, and Noah.

Music Office Assistant The Administrative Clerk performs administrative duties of moderate complexity, including typing, filing, recordkeeping, and answering phones, while providing front-line customer service and managing inventory.

Music at Meramec is seeking our next dynamic ACCOMPANIST to start in August. The successful candidate will play for the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers (rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-1:50pm) and accompany Applied Music recitals and jury exams, with other playing opportunities and teaching that may fit the accompanist's availability and experience.
