We are honored to be a chosen partner for the North Kirkwood Middle School new Service Learning Program this year!
We’re excited to work with the students, educating them on how KSDF benefits the Kirkwood School District
and community, and exploring how student can play an active role in supporting through hands-on projects.
Our initial meeting was a great success! The students came prepared with thoughtful, well informed questions for KSDF President, Kate Meyer and KSDF Executive Director, Lisa Iken and showed genuine interest in our mission. During our first session we completed two interactive exercises based on core KSDF initiatives:
💡Enrichment Grants: We asked the students the same question we ask their teachers: “If you received up to $500, how would you use it to enhance the educational experience for yourselves and your peers?” We were blown away by their inventive, smart and creative ideas!
❤️Gratitude: We are grateful for all of our donors and sponsors! Without their generosity, we couldn’t provide the Enrichment Grant to the staff. To practice gratitude, students designed and wrote heartfelt thank you notes for our supporters.
We can’t wait for our next project with the students…Chili Bowl 🌶️
