Chris Wallen (’95) returns to campus as the School of Business and Professional Studies Alumni Fellow. Chris earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and began his career in the non-profit sector, but quickly moved into technology. The retired leader and commander of the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” will return to campus as the Alumni Fellow for the School of Arts and Humanities. Colonel Thomas Palmatier, a 1977 Master’s in Music graduate, enjoyed a military career that spanned more than 37 years. His musical performances have taken him to all 50 states and more than 54 countries. In retirement he continues to be an active editor, consultant and clinician. The 2026 Alumni Fellow for the School of Science and Mathematics is Nathan Artz, PhD! Nathan graduated from Truman summa cm laude in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. He is now a board-certified medical physicist in Radiology at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City and an Associate Professor in Radiology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Echo Alumni Award recipients will be recognized on campus Friday, September 18 and we look forward to introducing them to you throughout this week! One outstanding Truman graduate who has distinguished themselves in their career will represent each of the three Academic Schools. In addition, ten Rising Stars, an award honoring exceptional alumni under the age of 40, will be on campus to share their success stories.

The Echo Alumni Awards are designed to enrich the Truman experience by exposing students to outstanding alumni who share their extensive knowledge and real-world experience.
