Truman State Homecoming is a week long celebration bringing students from all across campus together for one incredible week each October!
The first Homecoming occurred on the Truman campus on Nov. 3, 1939, when the school was known as Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. The event was sponsored by Blue Key Honor Fraternity and featured a pep rally, freshmen/sophomore tug of war (the freshmen won), football banquet, parade, and dance. Wendy Carter is a vital part of the Student Engagement Office and the Truman community. She consistently goes above and beyond for students, whether she’s offering a favorite snack, showing up to support campus events, or being a dependable source of guidance and care. Known for her quick wit, calm presence, and deep understanding of campus processes, Wendy is the person students and staff alike turn to for help. Her kindness, reliability, and dedication make her an valuable part of Truman State University.

Salvatore Costa has been a cornerstone of Truman State University for decades, shaping generations of students with his engaging teaching and unmatched dedication. His popular “Serial Killers” course attracts over 100 students each semester, both in person and online, showcasing his ability to connect with learners of all ages. Beyond the classroom, he goes above and beyond, helping students secure internships, advising multiple Greek organizations, and staying actively involved in the Kirksville community. His enthusiasm, compassion, and lifelong commitment to Truman make him an extraordinary example of what it means to be a true Truman educator.

Jared has remained deeply connected to Truman through his work with the U&I, where he standardized financial systems and promoted financial literacy. Within his fraternity, he mentors undergraduates on graduate school, leadership, and balancing commitments. Professionally, he has used skills gained from a top accounting firm to strengthen student organizations like BSIF, which achieved its highest APY in five years under his guidance.
