Read a book about a villain / anti-hero for September’s Mini-Book Club theme “Everyone Loves a Villain”.

This week’s staff recommendation is "Too Old For This" by Samantha Downing. At 75, Lottie Jones is living a quiet life, attending church and going to bingo nights. All this is disrupted when a journalist shows up on her doorstep wanting to dig into dangerous secrets from her past. If you were a fan of "My Lovely Wife" by Samantha Downing or "How to Age Disgracefully" by Clare Pooley you may like this book!

Family Day this year is Saturday, September 19, so our features two photos from when the event was known as Parents’ Day. The first photo shows a reception line for parents to meet college President Walter Ryle and his wife Maurine as well as other administrators in 1964. The second photo is from the 1988 Parents’ Day. Despite a bit of rain this mornings things are clearing up beautifully around Pickler- and if it starts raining again, there's nowhere better to curl up than the library with a book and a warm drink!

Read a book about a villain / anti-hero for September’s Mini-Book Club theme “Everyone Loves a Villain”.

This week’s staff recommendation is "I was a Teenage Slasher" by Stephen Graham Jones. Instead of following the typical horror plot, this book drops you into the perspective of a teenager who has unwittingly become a killer. You may even find yourself rooting for the villain!
