I think both Doug Wilson and Jen Wilken are making good points about how Christians should think about education and schools.
My two cents to add would be:
1) When it comes to the spiritual development of young people, the HOME is the primary factor in determining the child's outcome. The school, of any type, is secondary. If we care about the child's spiritual growth, we should only discuss which school they attend after we've discussed the value system and parenting at home.
2) It's not helpful to simply compare Public School vs Private School vs Homeschool. Schools reflect their communities and constituent families. Thus, no two public schools, or private schools, or homeschools are identical. It is much better to compare THIS public school vs THAT private school vs THIS homeschool. Making universal statements about where Christian parents should educate their kids is not helpful.
