In honor of Father’s Day on June 21, we hear from recent Technology Management MBA, UW Foster School of Business graduate Benjamin Madera:
“Becoming a father completely changed the way I view leadership. It made me realize that leadership is less about authority and more about consistency, patience and setting the example every single day. My kids are always watching how I handle challenges, pressure and setbacks, so it pushes me to lead with integrity, empathy and resilience both at home and professionally. Pursuing the TMMBA is also part of that example, I want my children to see that growth, learning and chasing your goals never stop, no matter what stage of life you’re in.”
Thank you Benjamin, and Happy Father’s Day to you and all the dads in the Technology Management MBA (TMMBA) community!

Hard to believe it all started with a bomb cyclone. Immersion Week for the Technology Management MBA, UW Foster School of Business program is already intense – 7 straight full days of class, with readings and homework each night.
For the TMMBA Class of 2026, that introductory week took on a whole new layer of intensity when the Seattle area’s Bomb Cyclone hit on Day 2. Power was out across the region, including for many students, faculty and staff, not to mention at our Kirkland classroom. We scrambled to relocate class and to let students know, and lo and behold, they showed up all week long. That was when we knew, the Class of 2026 would persevere.
Last week, we watched this resilient group of leaders cross the stage to accept their diplomas, and we couldn’t be more proud. Congratulations, graduates! We can’t wait to see what’s next for you!

Just days before graduation, the Technology Management MBA, UW Foster School of Business Class of 2026 put 18 months of leadership development, innovation and collaboration to the test at their Capstone Pitch Competition.
We’re proud to award the winning startup as Tastii, whose mission is to “decode how each person actually tastes, then turns every grocery aisle, menu, and meal kit into a personalized recommendation engine you can trust, connecting individual preference and the food chain in one Tastii little snack.”
In second place is saveday, a “members-only neighborhood club where affordable food, good drinks, and people you actually know are waiting. Priced so the decision makes itself.”
Congratulations to all seven of our teams for each facing three panels of judges who challenged your pitches and asked tough questions. Thank you to our volunteer judges for your meticulous feedback, your commitment to entrepreneurship and most importantly your time.
Graduates, we can’t wait to see where this journey continues to take you!

From Berlin startups to Amsterdam innovation studios, Technology Management MBA, UW Foster School of Business students spent a week exploring the future of global business during their International Study Tour.
The group of graduating students visited companies including Omio and IBM Netherlands, participated in hands-on AI workshops, and experienced the history and culture of both cities along the way.
Beyond the business lessons and company visits, many students said the friendships and conversations shared throughout the trip made the most meaningful impact 💜💛
