Great conversation today with alumni Hillary Haden and Andrew Ndayambaje about their careers and experience applying what they've taken from the program.... Advocacy isn't a topic we've always particularly stressed in the ICD program, but for many people in community development, there comes a time when advocacy becomes a critical piece of the work. So how does that fit with the ethos of community development? What's the relationship between advocacy and peacemaking? And isn't it great that we now have a class called Advocacy and Policy, which you can take as part of the new MA OR graduate certificate in Community Economic Development? :)

As the community development sector continues to change, I emphasize broadening our scope of where we can live copowerment. I want development professionals to ride this wave of change and thrive rather than be subject to it. I want you to have impact, achieve your personal life goals, and maintain health throughout.
In service to that vision, I often share public and private sector jobs to students that mirror the ethos of what we do. Check out this great job in my community that is an underrated opportunity for grassroots engagement and empowerment.
