Moments like this remind us why community arts organizations like KAC matter.
Today marked the final class of our first-ever wheel throwing course in the Skylight Studio. While this space has traditionally been home to drawing and painting classes, it now represents something much bigger: increased access to ceramics.
For years, we've seen the same names appear on our Beginning Wheel Throwing waitlists. Thanks to the generosity of our community, a successful fundraiser helped us purchase additional pottery wheels and adapt them for use in a multi-purpose classroom.
Because of that support, we're able to serve more students, reduce waitlists, and welcome new ceramic artists into our studios.
A huge thank you to instructor Matt Scroggins, his pioneering students, and everyone who donated, advocated, brainstormed, and helped make this possible.
This is what community looks like. This is our mission in action.
