WANIC Skill Center

The WANIC office and several of our Skill Center programs are located on the campus of Lake Washington Institute of Technology - LWTech . It's been exciting to watch the build of their new Center for Design the last few years. This week marks the grand opening and several WANIC students and staff joined in the celebration with Seattle Seahawks' Blitz and some of the Blue Thunder drumline. There have also been beautiful sunrises over the new building to start the day this week. LW TECH offers an array of post high school programs that WANIC students may want to check out!

We miss you when you're gone! Attendance is important at WANIC
Every day matters. Daily attendance helps students build strong habits, stay on track for graduation, and make the most of hands-on learning opportunities.
Every class matters. Being present enables students to join discussions, collaborate with peers, practice hands-on skills, get direct teacher feedback, and keep up with their coursework.
Every student matters. Regular attendance teaches vital workplace skills like responsibility, time management, and accountability. Developing these habits now prepares students for long-term success in college, trade apprenticeships, military service, and future careers.

The 2026-27 school year is in its third week! We love getting to know our new students and we know sometimes we haven't been pronouncing your name correctly. Please let us know!! We can relate. Voice to text or Text to voice has spelled or pronounced WANIC very creatively including "one egg", "wanted", "walnut", "Sonic", "want it", and even "Juanita"! 😂🤣

Meet Owen H., a participant in the Student Development Program at Boeing in Washington and a Core Plus Aerospace student from Liberty High School in the Issaquah School District and WANIC Skill Center.
What's something you're proud of accomplishing in the Student Development Program?
“I'm proud of my group’s teamwork and how we worked together on some of the first electrician exercises. I've developed a lot of close connections and close friendships with a lot of people in this program.”
