How cool is this?! 🤩

September is Deaf Awareness Month, and we couldn’t resist sharing this amazing minifigure featuring a cochlear implant!

For children who are deaf or hard of hearing, seeing themselves reflected in the toys they play with fosters a sense of pride, belonging, and connection. It’s also a wonderful way to build empathy and awareness among all kids from an early age! 💙

We love seeing major brands embrace inclusivity and make every child feel seen. Way to go !

🎉 Big news from our team! We are so proud to share new research published in The Journal of Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (JEHDI), co-authored by our very own Dr. Mona Oster (Education & Research Director at Listen and Talk) and Dr. Kimberly Peters from Western Washington University! 👏💙

This study evaluates and validates the LENA Developmental Snapshot—a parent-completed questionnaire—as a reliable tool for tracking language skills in infants and toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH).

Key takeaways from analyzing records of 147 children:
• Validates Accuracy: Confirms the Snapshot strongly aligns with traditional, in-person standardized assessments.
• Supports Tele-Intervention: Highlights an accessible, web-based tool that empowers parents and makes routine language tracking easy for families participating remotely.
• Guides Decision-Making: Tracks language growth over time so providers and families know when more in-depth evaluations are needed.

A huge thank you to Listen and Talk’s dedicated Birth to Three team for collecting, organizing, and compiling the data that made this study possible. Congratulations to the authors and our entire team for continuing to advance best practices for the children and families we serve!
