Visual Pauses is a collection of photographs dedicated to the art of being present. Each pause acts as a short, intentional photo essay that relies on visual storytelling with minimal words. The project encourages mindful photography—finding focus and beauty in a series of frames. I invite you to pause and simply see.

The Quiet Before the Roar: Scouting for the King Tide at Cape Disappointment
In photography, we often focus on the peak of the action, but sometimes the most meaningful moments are found in the quiet anticipation. This post is a reflection on the evening before the big King Tide event. We took a deliberate trip to scout locations, beginning with a visit to the charming North Head Lighthouse, followed by a stop at Waikiki Beach.

Sea mist clung to the morning air, offering everything a fog like glow. The scene felt like a collection of stories woven together—the fisherman’s silhouette, the rain falling from dramatic offshore clouds, and the sky itself, filling with color.

The Orange Blossom Bakery is a favorite stop during The Saltwater Retreat. Looking back on the photos taken during a rainy day during the 2017 retreat, it's amazing to see how much this charming little bakery has changed over the years. View the story of how we told "the story of a place" on the blog.

I came to chase waves, but I left with something more: a newfound confidence in myself and a rhythm I hope to carry with me to the beaches at home. My surf camp experience at Longboard House was about more than just the waves. It was about finding a rhythm that balanced challenge and peace, both in and out of the water.
