Kinmundy-Alma High School Class of 1983

Kinmundy-Alma High School Class of 1983 Kinmundy-Alma School District opened in 1953 and consolidated with nearby Farina LaGrove School in 1989.

The new district was named the South Central School District. KAHS team nickname: the "Hornets" and colors: Purple and Gold "Kinmundy- Alma was one of the top schools in Illinois for Student Council in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes identifies the victim of a bicyclist struck at the Jefferson Street crossing by a train in Effingham this afternoon as 34 year old Travis Ingram of Effingham. A preliminary investigation found that Ingram may have been wearing headphones at the time of the accident. The crossing has lights and gates but is considered a “quiet zone” where no train horn is sounded.
