Currently signs are located at both entrances to Preston High School.

The Final CTE program spotlight
ACES/PAES: instructor - Kim Wilhelm and Job Coach-Sarah Forman.

The PHS ACES and PAES students were the faces in the store. These students worked all year learning skills such as taking inventory, stocking shelves, and checking out customers. The students also worked on skills such as answering the phone, laundry, janitorial skills, and baking. They recycled boxes and shredded papers for preston High teachers and board office employees.

The senior students traveled off site to Camp Dawson, Tractor Supply and the Preston County Animal Shelter to practice hands on jobs skills by shadowing employees. Senior students also had the opportunity to be a waiter/waitress as they hosted the Preston County Red Hats.

These students helped make it possible for the store to be ope during school hours for the public and fellow students to shop.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Preston High CTE store and our CTE departments. Our final day will be May 28. We will reopen in September. Stay tuned for updates.

We have had 2 sets of seniors take advantage of our “Senior” discount so far.

Wednesday, May 20 will be our last scheduled meal for lunch. The last 6 days of school will be a variety of sliders, wraps, and homemade strombolis.

CTE teacher Spotlight: LTC Michael Kincaid - JROTC

Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) develop Cadets’ citizenship, character, leadership traits, and responsibility. Cadets participate in community Service, drill and ceremonies, and traditional educational programs. They have uniform inspections, study military history and customs, and take part in fitness training. Cadets may also participate in two extracurricular competitive teams against other JROTC programs: the Raider Challenge Team for physical leadership events and the Air Rifle Team who compete in the Civilian Marksmanship Program three position competitions. Cadets who finish two years of JROTC receive their Physical Education (PE) credit. Cadets who complete three years of JROTC may be eligible for immediate promotion to Enlisted Grade 3 (E3) if they enlist in any service after high school and meet certain other eligibility criteria
