The final countdown...
We look forward to seeing all those smiling faces back, bright and early, and on-time, tomorrow morning to kick-off the 2026-2027 PCS School Year. We'll see all students in grades 1-12 tomorrow, then we'll welcome back our PK/K students on Thursday. Please see the following 'welcome back' message from Brad Martin, Superintendent of Preston County Schools. Thank you for trusting us with your kids and their education.

Summer sure went by fast! As we get ready to welcome everyone back, we hope our students had a wonderful summer filled with fun, family, friends, and plenty of time to recharge. We’re excited to see our students return refreshed, energized, and ready for another year of learning, growing, and making great memories. Welcome back, students—we’re so glad you’re here!

Information and a Map on the Preston High Morning Drop Off for this School Year can be found on the scrolling banner on the PHS Website and also below. Personnel will be on hand directing traffic on opening day.

Parents will drop off in horseshoe loop as you come up to the school on the right. Kids will enter the building at the connector entrance.

School Buses will be only vehicles dropping off at the concourse in the morning in the front of the school.

Special Education Parents and buses will follow the same route as the buses that start in front and will drive behind the school drop off the kids and exit by the bus garage and down the hill.

Phone and internet service is currently down at all district schools due to a reported fiber break as advised from our vendor Prodigi. Restoration of service is tentatively expected later this afternoon.

Thanks to the efforts of the "Friends of Valley" over the past few years, the Panthers of West Preston will be returning to some new playground equipment to start off the new school year. Local public school playgrounds rarely receive state building funds, so these community spaces rely heavily on alternative funding streams, and PCS and West Preston would like to thank the "Friends of Valley" for all their hard work and dedication to the students of West Preston.

As we approach the start of a new school year, let's remember that we don't always know what each other are facing outside of school. If you see someone struggling to make friends or being bullied, let's step up and offer a friendly hello or smile in the hallways, share in a conversation, or invite them to the lunch table. Your kindness might just make a big difference in someone's life, including your own. So this year Preston County Schools, let's remember that "We Are P.C.S. " - Positive, Compassionate, and Supportive. We can't wait to welcome our staff back next week, and to see all of our students' smiling faces on the 24th.
