This “Back to School Checklist” is a helpful & organized guide for parents preparing their child for the new school year. Here’s a breakdown of what it includes:
1. Make IEP or 504 Plan Binder-Organize important documents if your child has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan.
2. Create After School Schedule-Plan a daily routine for homework, extracurriculars & downtime.
3. Purchase School Supplies-Buy everything needed for the classroom (backpack, notebooks, pens, etc.).
4. Set Up Meeting At School-Schedule a visit & meeting to familiarize yourself & your child with the school.
5. Meet New Teacher/Teachers-Introduce your child to their new educators to build comfort & communication.
6. Talk To Your Child About New School Year-Have open conversations about expectations, feelings & excitement.
7. Do One More Fun Summer Activity-Squeeze in a final fun memory before school begins.
8. Breathe & Enjoy The School Year-A reminder to relax & embrace the journey ahead.
