Gertrude Catholic School is located at 400 East Caesar Avenue in Kingsville, Texas, population 27,000. The school was first accredited by the state of Texas in 1967 and currently includes grades K3 through 6th. The school is sponsored by the St. Gertrude Church parish community, consisting of 650 families. Approximately 35 percent of the students are non-Catholics or come from other parishes in the area. All teachers and their aides are fully committed to their vocation and meet certification requirements as mandated by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department and recognized by Texas Education Association. Gertrude is ranked among the top schools in the Diocese of Corpus Christi. Gertrude’s pupils score well above the 50th percentile on the national standardized tests. Many of our alumni rank in the top 10 percent of their classes in Kingsville and surrounding independent school districts. We are proud of students who have continued on to graduate as valedictorian or salutatorian. Gertrude’s curriculum meets the standards set by the Texas State Board of Education and the Diocese of Corpus Christi. The curriculum is comprehensive and covers the core subjects (Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies), as well as Fine Arts (Music, Art and Drama), Technology, Spanish and Guidance. The students have daily religious education, emphasizing doctrine and liturgy, values and self-discipline. Homework is a vital part of the learning process and a strong component of the daily routine the teachers establish.
