My wife and I, along with another children’s ministry friend, once took a group of children to compete at a Junior Bible Quiz (JBQ) event in San Antonio, TX. JBQ is a competitive, buzzer-based quiz program & discipleship resource designed to help children grow in their knowledge of God’s Word.

During the event, I observed several of the children from other teams hitting the buzzer and answering a question by singing the answer. They sang the scriptures. It was pretty cool to see & it was a fun experience.

Singing the Word of God by combining lyrics & melody is a great way to teach, learn, and remember God’s word. Try it out!

Ozzy Osbourne is dead at 76.

The so-called Prince of Darkness just met the King of Kings.

Ozzy was one of the most influential figures in rock and heavy metal history. From Black Sabbath to a wildly successful solo career, he sold over 100 million records, won a Grammy, landed a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and became a cultural icon. He shocked the world with outrageous antics and battled addiction and health issues, but he always made comebacks.

But not this time.

Death doesn’t care how many albums you sell. It doesn’t respect fame, fortune, or fandom. You can party hard, laugh in the face of morality, and even become a legend… but you cannot outrun death.

No one can.

“It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). That verse isn’t just for Ozzy. It’s for you. It’s for me. It’s for everyone.

Every person will stand before God. And no amount of legacy, awards, or screaming fans will matter then.
Ozzy was known for bizarre stunts involving blood and bats. But Christ is known for something greater: conquering death. His blood was not for shock value. It was poured out to save sinners. He died and rose again, offering forgiveness to all who would repent and believe.

I don’t know where Ozzy stood with God in the end. I hope he made peace. But whether he did or not, this moment is a wake-up call. Because one day it will be your name in the headlines.

The real question is: will you be ready?
The time to get right with God is now. Don’t wait for a final tour. You’re not promised another encore.

Be reconciled to God. Trust in Christ. Because the day will come when the King of Kings calls your name too.

One of the reasons we sing to the Lord, is to proclaim to the world how good He is and to declare that He is able to save those that come to Him in repentance and faith.

One of the most well known hymns of all says

“Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me…”

I too am the wretch the song speaks of.
