Are you interested in technology, coding, problem-solving, or careers in a growing field? You may have the opportunity to enroll in Computer Science I as part of your Languages Other Than English graduation requirement.
Texas graduation rules allow students to satisfy the two-credit LOTE requirement by completing two credits in approved computer programming courses. Computer Science I can serve as the first credit in this two-course sequence. Students must successfully complete a second approved computer science course to fulfill the entire two-credit requirement.
Computer Science I gives students an opportunity to:
⭐️Learn the foundations of coding and computer programming
⭐️Strengthen problem-solving and logical-thinking skills
⭐️Explore careers in technology, cybersecurity, engineering, and software development
⭐️Begin an approved two-course computer science sequence for the LOTE requirement
If you are currently enrolled in Spanish I and would like to be considered for Computer Science I, please contact your school counselor. Your counselor will review your graduation plan, schedule, endorsement, and future college goals to determine whether this option is appropriate for you.
Enrollment is subject to course availability and counselor approval. Do not withdraw from Spanish I until your counselor confirms and completes the schedule change.
