Found this footage of 2024 graduates Anya and Stephanie playing the Doppler their senior year, and I’d almost forgotten just how well these two blended.
The best way I can describe them is “sound siblings.” Every player has their own voice of course, but after years of developing musically together within the same studio, there’s a certain shared language and set of musical characteristics in students’ playing—-the phrasing, color, and the way they listen and respond to each other are a few examples.

I love that this video begins with them laughing and also ends with them laughing! They genuinely enjoyed each other’s friendship just as much as they enjoyed making music together, and I think you can hear that pretty clearly here; pretty remarkable rapport.

Old videos like this are so valuable to me. I love that they have such fond memories from being a part of this studio. ❤️

It has been SO much fun watching this sweet 6-year-old’s progress this summer. Come join us on a little journey from her first sound with the head joint to her first tiny real song (with piano accompaniment)!  if you pay close attention, you will see that she is “tonguing” in the last segment, just like the big kids do!
Of course Nigel was on the chair to supervise…

*yes, she is playing on a real flute! It is scaled down to size, but it plays just like the standard instrument. It is more durable (not as big of a deal if it slips off of their laps) and lighter to hold, which is perfect for little hands!

The middle schoolers completely captured the heart and soul behind the FAMILY MATTERS theme! 🥹📺
Today might not be Friday in the 90s, but it is indeed a Friday, so let’s take you back to simpler times: the TGIF days.

✨It was an honor to provide music at the Westmoreland Club alongside two talented students, Abby (flute) and Lauren (cello), for a beautiful event featuring the incredible culinary creations of the Brotherhood of Chefs in support of the Wyoming Valley Children’s Association.✨

Both girls are sophomores in high school, and this was their very first professional gig. They prepared three full sets of music and performed for nearly three hours with poise, musicianship, and remarkable stamina.

I’m so proud of their hard work, commitment, and the way they rose to the occasion. They did a beautiful job, and we thoroughly enjoyed being part of such a meaningful evening. Thank you so much for having us!
