University of Rhode Island's Talent Development Program In response to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

and in recognition of the value of his work toward equality, URI established a special admissions program for Rhode Island students in 1968. Today, Talent Development recruits and serves Rhode Island high school graduates with college potential, most of whom come from underperforming schools and districts.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Corey M. Fernandez, Academic Advisor/Success Coach in the Talent Development (TD) program. Corey served as a role model and mentor to countless Talent Development scholars. His impact on our community was profound, and he will be deeply missed.
We ask that you keep Corey’s family and our TD community in your thoughts during this difficult time. We are sincerely grateful for the compassion, support, and care that have been extended to the Talent Development team and to all the TD scholars across our community who are grieving this tremendous loss.
