While our students and teaching staff are enjoying their summer break, our Finance Team has been making sure the fun continues for those of us on the administrative side who are still holding down the fort! Shelly, our CFO, and her Finance Team have spearheaded a series of theme days, complete with special dress-up days and food.

Today was Western Day! From left to right: Brandi (Finance), Patti (Reception), David (Fundraising/PR), Charlotte (Executive Director), Shelly (CFO), and Lorie (Finance). Yeehaw!

It’s hard to believe, but today was the last day of our Summer Program! Somehow, these weeks have gone by way too quickly.

Our Enrichment Program was nothing short of amazing. Once a week, our Kingston School library transformed into all sorts of wonderful places and experiences — from a remote island filled with pirates and mermaids, to a lush rainforest, to one of everyone’s favorites: Ice Cream Day!

Our Ellenville School found Enrichment Days taking students on adventures with “It’s a Zoo Here,” “We Are the Dinosaurs,” and “Under the Sea.

And on all the days in between, our students enjoyed plenty of fun, outdoor/indoor learning experiences — along with those all-important classroom days when it was simply too hot to venture outside!

Our Summer Program gave students the education and therapies they need, while wrapping them in a more relaxed, playful, summertime experience. We’re so grateful to our incredible staff for making these weeks so much fun — and so meaningful — for our students.

Now it’s time for a two-and-a-half week break for both students and staff. We hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the summer, and we can’t wait to see everyone back in September!

As part of our live auction at April’s Gala, Ray Tucker—Bob Siracusano’s right-hand man and our frequent co-auctioneer—won a visit from Bob’s vintage Good Humor Ice Cream Truck. But Ray had an even sweeter idea: he donated the visit to Center for Spectrum Services!

Bob brought the truck to school and treated every student to ice cream. Class by class, our students came out to choose a treat, enjoy a little sunshine, and head back to class with some very happy smiles. It was a pretty great day!

Many of the classes gave Bob thank you cards they made, and we want to shout out a huge thank-you to Ray and Bob for being such wonderful supporters of of our students, and for making this special day possible!

And if this post has you craving ice cream… you know where to go! Head over to Sawyer Ice Cream Company in Saugerties for some of the best ice cream around!

Today was a big day at Center for Spectrum Services!

Four of our classes celebrated students who are graduating on to new schools, new adventures, and all sorts of new experiences. For many of these students, their journey with us began in our preschool program, and they’ve grown and progressed through each step along the way. Today, we got to celebrate just how far they’ve come.

With plenty of tears, lots of laughter, proud teachers, and very proud families, it was an occasion that was both joyful and a little bittersweet. From Violet Class student David, who couldn’t be with us but had his mom proudly accept for him, to Silver Class student Willow’s unforgettable shout at the end—“Now let’s Partyyyyy!”—our graduates certainly gave us plenty to celebrate.

And so, with enormous congratulations, we celebrate:

Gold Class
Willow E. • Matthew P.

Teal Class
Theo M. • Cyrus J.

Silver Class
Esteban T. • Benjamin K. • Izabel R.

Violet Class
David M.

Congratulations to all of our graduates! We are so proud of everything you have accomplished and the wonderful young people you have become. We’ll miss seeing you each day, but we can’t wait to see where your next adventure takes you!

Ahoy, mateys! Last week’s oceanic Enrichment Room was a tidal wave of fun and sensory exploration! From walking the plank to searching for sunken treasure in the deep blue sea, students dove into hands-on activities—complete with eye patches and plenty of imagination.

These Enrichment Room days are a special part of our monthly schedules, giving students meaningful sensory experiences that support learning through play. Even better, classrooms are given time leading up to the event to explore that month's theme with their students—so our halls were filled with pirate art and mermaid magic, and students arrived ready for adventure!

We’re wrapping up the first and very fun week of our Summer Program—and now it’s in full swing (pun intended, as students gravitated to the swings today)!

From time in our playgrounds, to tending their plants and flowers in our community garden, to sensory play, movement activities, water fun, and outdoor exploration, our students will be learning, growing, and enjoying every moment this summer. Each day brings opportunities to build communication, social, and independence skills in a supportive, engaging, and sun-filled environment.

If these smiles are any indication, we’re off to a great start.

This gal's gone! We celebrate the many years of service of our beloved Kim DeNitto, pictured here with her OT/PT colleagues as she retires. Kim has touched the lives of so many of our students, making a lasting impact that goes far beyond the therapy room. Her unwavering dedication, endless patience, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by staff and students alike. Thank you for everything, Kim, and congratulations on a beautiful career and a very well-deserved retirement!
