My background:
I am a professional, seasoned educator who has worked with diverse populations. While I’ve been permanently certified and licensed as a secondary ELA teacher since 2002 ( Summa Cum Laude Graduate from Binghamton University), I've worked with students between the ages of four and sixty. My students come from a variety of socio- economic backgrounds, require vastly differentiated inst

ruction, and have a wide range of goals. To thrive with such varied clientele, I rely on my perseverance, professionalism, and attention to detail. By providing clear objectives, developmentally-appropriate goals, and timely/informative feedback, I've helped hundreds of students achieve and exceed their goals. I firmly believe that my ability to quickly assess students’ academic and emotional needs, and to then apply that knowledge to my instruction, has been instrumental in my success as an educator.

Why it is may actually be in the best interest of the students and our schools to vote yes on the KCSD 2026 school budget:

If the budget is turned down, the next budget is something called a "contingency budget". In the case of NYS school districts, contingency budgets are legally required to be LESS than the original proposed budget.

In short, a contingency budget is a spare version of the original budget. Its goal is solely to keep basic operations running. By eliminating all "non-essential items," it is legally required to be LESS than the original proposed budget.

Many educators, including myself, and myriad sensible supporters of sound education are incensed at this year's KCSD budget. We seethe over its excessive cuts in critical staff and its increase of the Superintendent's Salary to$334,308. However, with good reason, many of us are unaware of what the actual "aftermath" will be if we vote no.

While both options make me recoil, I am glad that I now know the devil in the details.
