New York's clean energy transition is already putting New Yorkers to work.

According to NYSERDA's 2025 Clean Energy Industry Report, New York had 185,000 clean energy jobs; roughly 1 in 8 clean energy workers in New York are members of a union or covered by a union, and there were nearly $6 BILLION in average clean energy investments in 2022โ€“2024.

This is what New Yorkโ€™s clean energy buildout looks like:

- 135,000 jobs in building decarbonization & energy efficiency
- 28,000 jobs in renewable electric power generation
- 15,000 jobs in Clean & Alternative Fuels Transportation
- 2,600 jobs in Grid modernization and Energy Storage
- Roughly 1 in 8 clean energy workers are union members

** 92% of surveyed clean energy workers reported satisfaction with their careers

As New York transitions to cleaner, all-electric buildings, how we heat and cool them matters.

Geothermal uses the earth's stable underground temperature to provide reliable, year-round heating and cooling for homes and buildings. While installation costs are higher upfront, geothermal systems can deliver decades of clean, quiet comfort with lower energy bills and minimal maintenance.

Geothermal can also help support a cleaner, more resilient electric grid by reducing peak electricity demands. As our friends at NY-GEO like to say, "What we get from the ground, we don't have to get from the grid."

Join New Yorkers for Clean Power and geothermal experts to learn how geothermal works, why it matters for New York's clean energy future, and how Geothermal Renewable Energy Credits (G-RECs) could help expand geothermal across the state.

The wait is over. New York's clean energy transition is underway, and it's being built right now!

This summer marks the largest clean energy buildout in New York history, with 5,300 MW of new renewable energy projects already under construction or breaking ground across the state, including:

- 2,600 MW of utility-scale wind and solar
- 1,700 MW of offshore wind
- 1,000 MW of distributed solar

Renewables are the fastest way to bring new electricity online to meet rising demands, all while creating good-paying union jobs and delivering reliable, homegrown power for New Yorkers across the state.

๐Ÿก๐Ÿ’š A big win for cleaner air and healthier homes!

A federal appeals court issued a major ruling last week upholding NYC and New York State laws that require buildings to reduce pollution.

The ruling reinforces the authority that both states and cities have to push forward policies that protect public health, improve air quality, and nurture healthier communities.

Earthjustice called the ruling โ€œa welcome return to a commonsense understanding of state and local control over the homes we live in and the air we breathe.โ€

As fossil fuel interests continue to challenge these protections, NY has an opportunity to keep leading with energy efficiency and climate policies that make homes healthier, lower energy costs, and reduce pollution.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upheld New Yorkโ€™s All-Electric Building Act, confirming state power over fossil fuel appliances in new buildings and establishing a legal precโ€ฆ

๐ŸŒHow can New York reduce emissions and avoid unnecessary gas infrastructure spending? It starts with planning.
Join us for a virtual teach-in to learn what gas planning is, why it matters, and what New York can do to build a cleaner, more affordable energy future.
In 2020, New York launched a Gas Planning Proceeding to help direct the gas utilities to meet the emissions reductions required by the CLCPA. Six years later, the process has fallen short and now there's an opportunity to get it right!

๐Ÿ“† ๐Ÿป BESS & BEERS: Tuesday, July 14 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

Join us at Tap Room in Patchogue to learn more about the role Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) can play in building a cleaner, more reliable energy future for Long Island and New York.

Together, community members, advocates, and energy experts will discuss how battery storage supports grid reliability, helps integrate renewable energy onto the grid, reduces reliance on polluting peaker plants, and strengthens local resiliency during periods of high energy demand.

Attendees will also hear from industry and safety experts about how BESS projects are designed, regulated, and safely operated in communities across New York.

Speakers include Paul Rogers, Co-Founder of the Energy Safety Response Group and retired FDNY Lieutenant, and Dr. Jeffery Seidman of Vassar College.

๐ŸปCome grab a beer and join in on an important conversation about clean energy transition on Long Island.

This is our opportunity to tell the Public Service Commission, NYโ€™s utility regulator, that we support the 100-foot rule repeal!

For decades, New Yorkers have been forced to pay for new gas pipe hook-ups through extra charges on our bills. These extra charges are driving up everyoneโ€™s energy bills and costing us $600 million every year. The 100-foot rule repeal ends these extra charges to save New Yorkers money and stop lining the pockets of gas utility shareholders!

The 100-foot rule repeal was passed and signed into law last year! It goes into effect later this year. Draft regulations were just released and the Public Service Commission is collecting public comments .
