What does the life you truly desire look like?

Namaste Friends...

The rain brings a softening, a moistening; an encouragement to relax and turn our attention inward. Nourishing the soil & seeds of the longing in our hearts. Not to mention what it does to the gardens in our yards!

May you enjoy slowing down today, receiving the gifts pouring down and in...like rain, like mercy & golden light through the clouds.

I am grateful and delighted to gather together this Saturday to practice Yoga. Entering the state of Union with each other. This brings peace, joy, and wonder to us all...everytime! Yoga is designed to help us embody & enter the state of Freedom. Right down in the middle of great suffering, ignorance and injustice.

"The presence of God has never eliminated pain, only made it more bearable." Mark Nepo

We gather together under the guidance and protection of the 8-limb tree of Patanjali. For healing, connection, and joy. Beautiful humans are showing up! Come. Just the way you are.

I am grateful our beloved sound healer Massood Taj will grace us with his presence & magical instruments to lull us into deeper bliss!

This class is designed for all levels. Feel free to email me to register or with any questions.

From my teacher Sally Kempton:

Ta**ra sees Desire as a divine quality. Desire is close to creativity and creativity is one of the essential qualities of the divine. When desire springs up, worlds manifest. We are defined by what we desire.

PRACTICE: Ask yourself what do I really want? What do I really want by getting what I want? If I get what I want, what will it give me? What you'll probably discover is that you want some kind of satisfaction. Keep dropping into that question until you recognize the ones that really drive you. This will show you where your life is taking you. There are deep primal longings behind those desires and those longings connect you with shakti. They are profound engines for life transformation. This is a contemplation that's good to do with a notebook.

If you can’t make this one, we will be offering this class again on May 24th.

In Grace & Gratitude,
Amy

Conscious loving collaboration involves a deliberate and intentional approach to relationships and teamwork, characterized by a deep understanding of self and others, clear communication, and a commitment to growth and shared goals. ~AI

True collaboration gives you a sense of deep support and companionship as you face life’s challenges.

Good Afternoon Good Humans!

I’ve been contemplating and longing for Conscious Collaboration for some time now. The isolating effects of Covid really fired up my longing! To move away from a sense of solitary effort into a shared, more loving, relational paradigm. What is possible to co-create more beauty, grace, and joy in our daily lives? And community offerings?

I am excited to invite you to our upcoming “Triple Shakti” Community Kirtan! I’m honored to come together with two of my favorite "lit-up" and inspired soul friends, Eileen Bray & Chrissy Kirkwood!

Eileen & I began the conversation about the possibility of a collaborative Kirtan back in October, when my mother Julie & I were in her magical homeland of Ireland for a musical tour with the amazing Dana Cooper.

“Eileen Bray is an Irish SoulSinger and creator of Celtic Kirtan. She has a deep passion for voice, sacred chant and mantra and it’s proven healing effects on our psyche and well-being. After spending 33 years living in the USA, she is now based back in her beloved homeland and is so grateful to share Celtic Kirtan in both countries.”

Chrissy Kirkwood, Rhythm Bird created and hosts healing events at the Music Monastery in East Nashville. She and I connected last year and have been having so much fun playing together and getting more curious about what we might get into that might conjure up more community musical bliss.

"Rhythm Bird is a soulful musician, sharing modern grooves with the ancient Sanskrit chants. She's the resident artist at music monastery and hosts drum circles and mantra Monday regularly!"

And here we go! Coming up on Sat. May 10th, 4-6pm, at Yogasoul Nashville, inviting you to join us for our “Triple Shakti” Community Kirtan! Please be welcome and join us! All are welcome.

Oh, and I would be completely remiss if I did not raise up and let you know my dear friend, the crazy talented and big hearted bass player and singer John Heiks Paul IV has graciously agreed to join us!

So happy to sing and dance with you soon!

Blessings & Love,
Amy

The House of Belonging

I awoke
this morning
in the gold light
turning this way
and that
thinking for
a moment
it was one
day
like any other.

But
the veil had gone
from my
darkened heart
and
I thought
it must have been the quiet
candlelight
that filled my room,
it must have been
the first
easy rhythm
with which I breathed
myself to sleep,
it must have been
the prayer I said
speaking to the otherness
of the night.

And
I thought
this is the good day
you could
meet your love,
this is the black day
someone close
to you could die.

This is the day
you realize
how easily the thread
is broken
between this world
and the next
and I found myself
sitting up
in the quiet pathway
of light,
the tawny
close grained cedar
burning round
me like fire
and all the angels of this housely
heaven ascending
through the first
roof of light
the sun has made.

This is the bright home
in which I live,
this is where
I ask
my friends
to come,
this is where I want
to love all the things
it has taken me so long
to learn to love.

This is the temple
of my adult aloneness
and I belong
to that aloneness
as I belong to my life.
There is no house
like the house of belonging.

– David Whyte

May you find Peace this day, inside & outside the walls of your House of Belonging. "...this is the good day you could meet your love." Have faith & take courage!

Sending love,
Amy

Who’s to say
the effort to be real
isn’t the beginning of wings?

Who’s to say that the budding of wings from the ribs of small birds doesn’t begin with the impulse within them to live? Who’s to say that the butterfly breaking through its cocoon isn’t the result of its being tired of living in a tight weave of its own making?

Who’s to say that the migration of flamingos from South America to Africa doesn’t begin with a yearning to eat the yellow ribbon that keeps lining the horizon?

And who’s to say the color of passion doesn’t line our faces the instant we grow tired of living in a tight cocoon of our own making? Who’s to say the journey to love doesn’t begin the instant we give voice to that loneliness that no one wants to hear? Who’s to say the journey to peace doesn’t sprout like a small wing the instant we let our feelings find their place in the world?

In truth, every effort that is allowed its full beat within will ripple as a birth of some kind in the world.

*Center yourself and breathe deeply.

*At the high point of inhalation, imagine the still center as the inner sun of spirit.

*Let it flood you with its light each time you exhale.

*Enter your day, inviting one deep feeling to sprout from you.

~Mark Nepo

Good Morning Friends,

Wednesday evening I was privileged to experience Jon Batiste at the Ryman Auditorium. He is a True Bhakti! A beacon of LoveLight, embodying the musical genius of Pure Joy.

You sense a little Michael Jackson & Stevie Wonder, but all his unique New Orleans Self! His musicality blows your mind, seamlessly integrating classical, funk, gospel, ragtime & more into the One musical stream flowing through us all. Happiness. One Heart. One Love. Bob is smiling down on him for sure!

He led is in Kirtan! Offering his “healing melodies” to us and inviting us to sing them back. I was in a state of funky “Bliss” & “Joy” the entire night. His hit, Freedom, is one you must check out if you haven’t yet!

It is so inspiring to witness & experience artists like Jon who are real. Authentically spreading hope, joy, & musical medicine around the world.

Thank you Jon. Thank all of you living in this way. All my Butterfly People. Here’s to Healing Community! To more singing and dancing…mixing light into the dark…

We have a few spaces open in our Yoga for Body, Mind, & Voice tomorrow. Email me if you’d like to join us.

Blessings & Love.

In deep gratitude…awe & wonder

"When sound comes from our own voice, the power of musical vibration intensifies in our body. The experience of breathing deeply, dwelling in one note, feeling tone revitalizing the body, blending our own voice with other voices in essential unison, is deeply inspiring, offering rare glimpses of the sacred Source. It's exhilarating. We experience God as a fierce impulse to love, to listen, and to keep singing. Sound becomes divine healing." ~Silvia Nakkach

Music

When we pay attention to nature's music we find that every thing on the earth contributes to its harmony. The trees joyously wave their branches in rhythm with the wind; the sound of the sea, the murmuring of the breeze, the whistling of the wind through the rocks, hills and mountains, the flash of the lightning, and the crash of the thunder, the harmony of the sun and moon, the movements of the stars and planets, the blooming of the flower, the fading of the leaf, the regular alternation of morning, evening, noon and night -- all reveal to the seer the music of nature.
