The Literacy Council of Kingsport is honored to have been awarded a Literacy Endowment Grant from the East Tennessee Foundation! πŸŽ‰

These generous funds will help us purchase the instructional supplies and materials needed for our In-School Reading Tutoring Program, which provides one-on-one reading support to K–3rd grade students.

We’re so grateful to the East Tennessee Foundation for investing in early literacy and helping us give more young readers the tools and confidence they need to succeed. Together, we’re helping build stronger readersβ€”and stronger futures! πŸŒŸπŸ“–

πŸ“š Help a Child Discover the Joy of Reading! ❀️

Do you have just an hour each week to help a young reader succeed?

The Literacy Council of Kingsport is looking for caring volunteers to become Children's Reading Tutors! Join us for our Children's Tutor Training on Saturday, August 22, from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM at our office (247 Broad St., Kingsport).

During this training, you'll learn evidence-based reading strategies and gain the tools you need to confidently support young readers. No teaching experience is requiredβ€”we provide all the training and materials you'll need!

We're currently recruiting volunteers to:
πŸ“– Tutor students one-on-one at Kingsport City elementary schools during the school day
πŸ“– Provide after-school reading tutoring for K–3rd grade students at the Literacy Council office

A few hours of your time can make a lifelong difference in a child's future.
