Clean, Oil and Adjustment of Flute

Clean, Oil and Adjustment is a service that every flute needs usually on an annual basis to keep your flute in good playing condition. A C.O.A. includes the following:
*Evaluate flute, inspect and play test.
*Disassembly of flute, head joint and key hinge tubing
*Hand clean flute and remove tarnish and rust from all parts.
*Clean screws, inside of tubing, etc.
*Apply fresh oil and assemble keys.
*Clean pads and lightly hand polish flute.
*Make necessary adjustments
*Play test flute. Prices vary according to condition of the instrument. Student flute: $75.00. Intermediate or pre-professional flute: $125.00 Student piccolo: $80.00

Shining a spotlight on flutist Lorna McGhee! In just over a week, Lorna will give the world premiere performance of my new “Sonata for Solo Flute”, commissioned by The Library of Congress in celebration of Sir James Galway!

Tickets are officially sold out, but rush tickets will be made available at 5:00 PM on September 12 at the Coolidge Auditorium in the Thomas Jefferson Building. Make your plans to show up early and join the celebrations!

Lorna McGhee is principal flute of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, having been appointed by Andris Nelsons in 2024. She was previously the principal flutist of the Pittsburgh Symphony, with which she recorded symphonies of Beethoven, Bruckner, Brahms, Dvořák, and Tchaikovsky, as well as the PSO’s Grammy award-winning Shostakovich Symphony No. 5. She has performed as guest principal with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic, the Philharmonia, Academy of St-Martin-in-the-Fields, and Chamber Orchestra of Europe, among others. Before emigrating to North America, McGhee was co-principal flute of London’s BBC Symphony Orchestra.
