The mainstay of equipment in a reasonably complete shop are a lathe and a mill. With these 2 basic machines, I can make replacement parts for musical instruments if they aren't too complicated and they aren't readily available. I can also drill out and replace broken or cracked tone holes, and make some of my own specialty tools, which can't be bought.

Cruddy mouthpieces can be soaked in a little vinegar to clean them. Rinse with cool or lukewarm water; hot water might warp the mouthpiece.

Tone hole facers, turned up from nylon. Sandpaper is glued to the ends to reface and repair damaged tone holes.
