There are just a few days left in our Kindness Fundraiser, and we're making our way toward something wonderfully tangible: more shade for the children who play on our preschool and elementary playgrounds every day.

That's what generosity can do.

Halfway there! 🎉

Our Kindness Fundraiser isn't only about what we're raising. It's also about what we're practicing.

Kindness. Generosity. Gratitude. Looking beyond ourselves. ❤️

Those habits don't suddenly appear when children grow up. We help form them now, one small choice at a time.

So as we reach the halfway point, keep those Kindness Passports going and keep sharing your student's fundraising page. Every donation brings us closer to adding much-needed shade to our preschool and elementary playgrounds, and every act of kindness gives our children another opportunity to practice becoming the people God created them to be.

This one is pretty special to us. ❤️🎶

Our own Mrs. Dana Bellino is featured in the Kingsport Times News in a beautiful story about music, family, and the gifts passed from one generation to the next.

And there are so many St. Dominic connections in her story. Mrs. Bellino attended St. Dominic. Her children attended St. Dominic. Her late mother served here as principal. And for years, Mrs. Bellino has shared her own gifts with our students as their music teacher.

There’s something beautiful about seeing a life come full circle again and again, not because someone ever really left the story, but because each generation adds another chapter to it.

We know Mrs. Bellino as the person behind countless songs, programs, Masses, rehearsals, and musical memories for our children. We’re so glad others get to know a little more of her story, too. ❤️💛🎵

How far can a little school in Kingsport send some kindness? 🗺️❤️

Today, our Kindness Fundraiser is taking on the 50 State Challenge!

If you have grandparents, cousins, college friends, former St. Dominic families, or someone you love living in another state, send them your student's fundraising page and invite them to be part of what we're doing.

Every gift, whether it comes from right here in the Tri-Cities or from the other side of the country, helps us move closer to new shade structures for our preschool and elementary playgrounds.

But there's something else we love about watching that map fill up.

It gives our children a very visible reminder that their little corner of the world is connected to a much bigger one. 🌎

So...how many states can St. Dominic reach?

We’re only getting started, and now comes one of our favorite parts of this fundraiser: the Kindness Passport! ❤️

Our students are being challenged to intentionally choose acts of kindness throughout these 10 days. That matters to us because at St. Dominic, our faith isn't something reserved for religion class or Mass. We learn to live it in the ordinary moments of our day.

Helping someone. Encouraging a friend. Doing something without being asked. Noticing who might need us.

Those little choices are how children begin learning a much bigger lesson: love is something we do.

Keep working on those Kindness Passports, keep sharing those fundraising pages, and let's keep working toward shade for our preschool and elementary playgrounds! ☀️🌳

And yes, there might be a Mystery Prize Box involved too. 👀

We’re off! ❤️💛 Our Kindness Fundraiser begins TODAY!

For the next 10 days, our students will be challenged to put kindness into action while helping us work toward something they will get to enjoy every day: new shade structures for our preschool and elementary playgrounds. ☀️🌳

We especially love that this fundraiser connects giving with doing. Our children aren't simply being asked to raise money. They're being encouraged to notice the people around them, choose kindness, and discover that even small actions can make someone else's day better.

Parents, tonight’s first steps are easy:

Register your student and share their fundraising page with family and friends.
Complete the Boarding Pass assignment together.
Send the completed Boarding Pass back to school tomorrow so your child can earn their prizes!

Let’s see how much kindness our St. Dominic community can send out into the world, and how much shade we can bring back to our playgrounds! ☀️❤️

🫧 Learning About Our “Invisible Bubbles”

PK4 had a great time making all kinds of bubbles while learning about another kind of bubble too: the “invisible bubble” of personal space!

Through stories, hands-on activities, movement, and plenty of bubble-making, our students practiced recognizing their own boundaries and respecting those of their friends. 🫧

In a Catholic school, we want children to understand that healthy boundaries aren't about keeping people apart. They help give us the freedom to be together well. When children know they can say when something makes them uncomfortable, listen when a friend says “stop,” and trust that their boundaries will be respected, they are freer to play, learn, build friendships, and care for one another.

These are big ideas for little learners, taught in ways they can understand today and grow into for years to come. ❤️

☀️ From Sunshine to Sound!

Fourth grade is exploring electrical systems and forms of energy, and this lesson put the power right into students’ hands!

Using solar panels, students built simple electrical systems that transformed energy from the sun into motion, light, and sound. Along the way, they could see, hear, and observe concepts that might otherwise live only on the pages of a science book. ⚡

Experiences like this invite students to ask questions, experiment, problem-solve, and discover how God’s creation works. At Saint Dominic, we want our students not only to learn the science, but to develop the curiosity and wonder that inspire them to keep exploring.

Pretty amazing what can start with a little sunshine! ☀️🔆

Our Kindness Fundraiser starts in just 3 days! ❤️💛

For two weeks, our students will be spreading kindness while raising funds to help us add shade structures to both our preschool and elementary playgrounds!

Outdoor play is such an important part of a child’s day, giving them space to move, imagine, build friendships, and simply be kids. These new shade structures will help create more comfortable outdoor spaces where our children can play, learn, and grow together.

And we love that we’re working toward this goal through kindness. Our students will see firsthand how small acts of love and generosity can ripple outward and make a real difference in their community.

☀️ More shade.
❤️ More kindness.
🌱 More opportunities for our children to grow.

Together, our St. Dominic Torchbearers are learning that carrying the Light of Christ can begin with something as simple as an act of kindness.
