What a fantastic day! Our National Apprenticeship Week celebration welcomed old friends and new partners to RCAM this morning.

Northeast State RCAM welcomed six apprentices into the new Fiber Optics Technician occupational pathway. Those apprentices are Ryan Bowers, Patrick O’Conner, and James Turner from Premier Communication Technologies, and Bryan Denson, Adam Dunn, and Aaron Berry from CAM Industrial Solutions.

We were also delighted to honor four graduates who completed their apprenticeship requirements. These students earned their U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship certificates and associate’s degrees from Northeast State. Justin Brown and David Gardner of Bell Piney Flats completed the machinist occupational pathway. Wesley M. Stidham and Derik Linger of Cardinal Glass FG completed the mechanical maintenance technician pathway.

The event also welcomed workforce partners from around the region who shared their experiences joining the apprenticeship program. Thank you to all our partners and apprentices!

Former NASA astronaut José Hernández will share his inspirational journey from migrant farmworker to space explorer during a visit to Kingsport on Thursday, September 26.

Hernández will deliver a keynote address at 6:00 p.m. at the Toy F. Reid Employee Center, 400 S. Wilcox Drive, as part of Eastman’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15).

Two groups of students received their Core Certificates from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) last week.

What a fantastic week! We welcomed six new apprentices from three regional partners into the fold on Wednesday.

Our new apprentices are Justin Grizzle from Primester.
Chris Odom and James Simpson from LeClerc Foods.
Brady Chatman, Nate Crossman, and Colton Osborne from Bell Helicopter Tennessee Service Center in Piney Flats.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can save lives at any location including the workplace. The Northeast State’s Office of Workforce Solutions hosts five basic life support CPR classes on our Kingsport campus this year.

Class dates are August 2, August 23, September 13, October 4, and October 25. All classes will meet from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Regional Center for Health Professions, 300 W. Main Street, across the street from RCAM. Read details at https://wp.me/pRiSY-4vA.
