Q. A. Q.

How old do you have to be? To tryout for our team we require you to be 16+. However we do offer those 13+ to compete in a few of our festival tournaments. Q.What do I need to bring? We provide all the equipment you may need, we ask that you dress as you would for an outdoor athletic activity. closed shoes are also required. Q.How much does it cost? A.We are a nonprofit organization so we don't charge our students to be a part of this team. We only require that they commit to the team, classes and events. Although we do accept donations of any kind. Do I need any experience? No prior experience is needed, we will teach you. We do ask that you have an athletic drive our team focuses highly on creating athletic competitive athletes and we do push ourselves physically all the time. Q.Can my friend/family member watch me practice? We don't allow spectators at our classes for multiple reasons. However they are always welcome at any events we do as we are a very close and family oriented team. Q.When and where are tryouts? Tryouts are held every February and September in Kingsport TN. They are on Monday and Wednesday from 6pm-9pm, we require that you come to a minimum of 3 tryout days to qualify. Q.What styles do you teach? A.We teach a wide range of weapons combat and are always trying to add new types to our arsenal. Some of the styles we teach are, Sword and Buckler, sword and shield, rapier, pole weapons and much more. Q.Why do you call Everblade Academy a HEMA team? A.We consider ourselves a team for many reasons. We do work together to become the best athletes we can be and send fighters to compete in competition but it's much more than that. A team is defined as a group of people who perform interdependent tasks to work toward accomplishing a common mission or specific objective. In that sense we are constantly working twords many common goals and we do so as a close group that raises each other up to reach those goals whatever they may be.

It has come to our attention that the Facebook algorithm has spread our recent post about tryouts all over north America. This is so amazing and we love to see the interest in our team from amazing people. However we are located in north east Tennessee in Kingsport so we are unable to accommodate some of you. We do encourage the growth of historical sports combat. We started our own team 8 years ago and if you cant find a local group in you area we suggest you start one and we would love to share any knowledge we have about getting started with you.
We have shared a link to the HEMA alliance page that has a club location tool to hopefully help some of you find a club in your area. We are much morw than hema and there are also great groups like the SCS, EMP, Armored Combat and much much more. We hope this helps

A Hema Alliance provided service, our club finder will help you find a group of like minded individuals near you, rediscovering the arts together.
