KFS has been learning, connecting, and growing with our community for 5 amazing years! Sunday, August 30th, marks KFS's 5th birthday and we are going to have a low key potluck gathering from 4pm-8pm to celebrate. If you are in the area, stop in and say hi!

Join Kingsley Folk School's poetry and freewriting class on Thursday, August 27th 5:30-8 pm. Taught by Maddy Weist. $35/person.

We will experiment with form, language, different media, and voice while exploring our own style as poets. We will be exploring our minds in various ways through writing prompts such as blackout and object poetry, as well as ekphrasis and a collaborative piece, all within a supportive and thoughtful workshop setting. There will be prompt resources to take home to keep the magic alive!

Instructor highlight 🔎 Shani is teaching our upcoming RECESS- Play workshop for adults in August. Register online at Kingsleyfolkschool.com

Shani Feyen is an educator, facilitator and coach who is committed to remembering what it’s like to play in order to be in full service to the world. She remembers flooding the sandbox and digging holes in her parents’ backyard to create her own mini golf course (which they did not love), and has gotten shushed in the workplace for laughing too loudly.
She believes that play, curiosity and creativity are no longer “nice to have”; they are essential commitments for anyone who wants to show up more fully for themselves and others at home, in community and in the workplace. She facilitates professional development around emotional and physical intelligence in the workplace.

Let's play! Join Kingsley Folk School's RECESS, a play workshop for adults, on August 15th from 10am-12:30pm. Taught by Shani Feyen. $35 per person.

Somewhere along the way, many of us stopped playing, or limited our sense of play. Life has a way of filling in around the gaps that play leaves when busyness, complexity, and stress arise. Embodied play and creativity give us a way through complexity. This workshop offers us the chance to reconnect with the playful, present one within us. We'll use movement, reflection, and a variety of approaches to reconnect with the joy, creativity and presence that play can offer. We’ll tinker a bit with the one in us that might restrict or limit play, and give permission to the one who is seeking the resilience and capacity that play can bring. We'll slow down to discover what play might really feel like to us, now.

Pet portrait painting class this Monday evening! Bring a photo of your beloved pet (or someone else’s as a gift!) and paint a portrait with instruction by Andy McQuillen. One of the best parts of a Folk School class is getting to know other like minds and making connections. We love seeing friendships form at folk school events.
