💚💛 WELCOME BACK, PIONEERS! 💛💚

Pioneer students and families, we are SO excited to welcome you back to school! Tomorrow marks the beginning of a brand-new year, and we can’t wait to see our hallways filled with our students again!

Doors open at 7:30 a.m.
Breakfast will be served and enjoyed in the cafeteria.
Tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m. - Sign students in at the office.

As we get back into our school-year routines, we appreciate your patience and understanding during the first few days. Car rider lines and bus routes may take a little longer than usual as everyone learns new routines and transportation schedules settle into place.

Thank you for helping us start the year with patience, positivity, and plenty of Pioneer spirit!

Our Road Trip to Success begins tomorrow, and we’re excited to have our students along for the journey!

🚗🛣️ Our Road Trip to Success Has Officially Begun! 🛣️🚗

The engine is running, the map is set, and the Pioneer staff has been putting in the work and doing the reps to prepare for an incredible school year!

Over the past few days, our journey has included several exciting stops:
📍 Stop #1: Preparing our classrooms, learning together, and getting everything ready for our students' return.
🤝 Stop #2: Team-building activities that helped us strengthen relationships, build trust, and continue creating the positive school culture that makes KMIS such a special place.
🍦 Stop #3: A well-deserved visit to The Sweet Station for a sweet treat and a chance to celebrate the beginning of our journey together.
🎒 Stop #4: A successful Orientation, where we had the opportunity to welcome many of our students and families to the KMIS community!

Our next destination is one of the best yet…

🚌 Next Stop: Wednesday, August 12 — welcoming all of our Pioneer students for the first day of school!

We can't wait to see our students, partner with our families, and continue this incredible Road Trip to Success together. Here's to a year filled with growth, learning, teamwork, and unforgettable memories.

We can't wait to see our Pioneer students and families at orientation tomorrow, Thursday, August 6. Please park in the car rider parking lot and enter the building through the gym doors. Our staff will be there to welcome you and direct you to your location. We can't wait to see you!

First annual Faculty Family Cookout! So great having the families of our family come to dinner. Special thanks to our community friends at Food Lion #230, Love's Fishbox, Pelican's SnoBalls KM, and George Distribution LLC for donating food items. Thank you to Mason Cole for the live music and Michael Cogdell for being our grill master.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Lamar Burris to the Kings Mountain Intermediate School family as a member of our 6th Grade Team!

A message from Mr. Burris:

"My name is Lamar Burris. I was born and raised in Gastonia before deciding to join the Marine Corps. While serving, I also earned a degree in English. Words—and the way they work—have been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. Since retiring from the Corps, I have worked as a full-time substitute and TA at KMIS for the past five years. Seeing the students’ bright faces and active minds has inspired me to expect more of myself and, most importantly, to invest more in the young minds of tomorrow.

I share my life with my significant other, Brooke Boulware. We are parents to 5 children. Daisha, Shannon, Ostin, Kiah, and Addison.

When I’m not working, I can be found enjoying music, doing handy work, or some type of community service.

I’d like to thank the leadership of KMIS for this great opportunity. I look forward to continued service to the parents and children of Cleveland County."
