MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave College Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society – Alpha Chi Omega chapter on the Kingman campus hosted its induction ceremony on Thursday, April 16th for new members for spring 2026.
Forty-three new PTK members were inducted: Ashia Andrews, Sonoyta Avery, Isabella Bagoje, Jefferson Black, Nikolos Bunn, Jeremiah Burleson, Abbey Deihl, Amy Dimitt, Denise Eichner, Rylie Farrington, Cayden Foggin, Isabella Fulwiler, Kelly Gatica, Dana Glentz, Dominique Gutierrez McCartney, Tucker Hudgens, Kelsey Johnson, Jonathan Johnson-Hartley, Shyann Kohn, Gabriella Lammers, Silas Leisring, Kassandra Mata, Mary McNeese, Christina Mendoza, Kaylee Morton, Caleb Nez, Benjamin Obiedzenski, Marilyn Ochoa, Tiffany O’Laughlin, Serenity Paredes, Elliot Plank, Lily Ponce, Joselin Rodas Quintanilla, Erica Ruyg, Tina Sanders, Jagger Shaw, Jeffrey Snider, Anai Solorio, Olivia Stubbs, Alec Swenson, Annaleigh Thompson, Ava Wendell and Jodilynn Williams.
Students are invited to join Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) if they have achieved a cumulative 3.5 GPA and earned 12 credit hours or if they are in a certificate program and have earned 6 credit hours.
Mohave College Interim President Dr. Tim Culver officially opened the ceremony by welcoming all of the new members and guests. He told the audience that he looks forward to events like this because celebrating students is one of his favorite things to do and serves as a great reminder of how everyone at the college can help play a part in student success.
Other administration from the college in attendance included Dr. Tramaine Rausaw, Vice President of Student Life and Community Engagement; and Dr. Tonya Jackson-Lopez, Associate Dean of Instruction/STEM on the Kingman Campus.
Dr. Tonya Jackson-Lopez was the guest speaker and told the new inductees that they didn’t get here by chance or luck, but by hard work and masterfully juggling school, work, family, and other obligations. She then spoke on leadership, one of the foundational pillars of PTK, and how it isn’t just about giving orders. “Leadership is asking questions no one wants to ask—that is true leadership,” she said.
Advisors are John Hansen, Janice Tubbs and Lisa Barnes. Officers include President, Robert Gale; Vice President of Service, Roxie Joslin; Vice President of Fellowship, Noel Mabile; Vice President of Public Relations, Lisa Sanchez; and Treasurer, Elizabeth Rodas Quintanilla.
“Tonight we honor your excellence, and more importantly, your potential. Let this be the beginning of the impact only you can make,” said John Hansen, PTK advisor.
Before the newly minted members took the official oath, an overview of the PTK symbol was explained.
“This is the emblem of Phi Theta Kappa. It consists of a golden slab, keyed at the top and bottom. The golden field like the escutcheon of our coat of arms refers to the golden opportunities that abound on every hand for Society members to evidence their culture and perform good works,” Gale said.
After the inductees signed the record book, received a white rose, and a candle, advisor Janice Tubbs closed the ceremony.
“May this honor mark not just your achievements, but your commitment to lead with curiosity, integrity and purpose in all that lies ahead,” she said.
Phi Theta Kappa’s mission is to recognize and encourage scholarships among two-year college students by providing an opportunity for leadership, service and development.
