Students at KHS are currently participating in a Food Drive sponsored by National Honor Society. Seminars are competing to bring the most items. Please support this worthy cause and bring items by this Friday (10/14).

Below is the link to the Community Partnership list. It contains volunteer opportunities in our community. Seminar groups and individual students can view the list to help them determine areas they may want to volunteer. Organizations can post events or needs. Check it out.

11/13/12 - All Seminars participated in Lions Quest's first SERVICE FAIR. Students visited 6 different presenters to learn more about the community service opportunities available with each organization or cause. Students had approximately 10 minutes with each station to learn as much as they could before they move on to the next. Students then went back to their seminars to rank each opportunity as they look at areas to get involved in our community. Thanks to all community members who took the time to share their important contributions to our school, charitable organizations and community.

Today in Lions Quest Seminar time, students worked on writing questions and getting organized in preparation for their upcoming interview with a socially responsible adult in our community. All 18 students have selected a member of our community to contact personally or by phone to interview. Their interview and paper will be due Nov. 6th.

Mitchell and Zach take time out from the Futures Fair to strike a pose. They spent the hour at Century II exploring the 84 booths representing trade schools, colleges, universities and military branches. Both are members of the Untouchables Seminar.

Jacob Messenger competed in the Wii Slice competition representing the Untouchables Seminar. He won the tournament and earned his seminar a donut party. He played Destiny Milford in the round pictured.

Today's theme is Social Responsibility. Students are working to define Social Responsibility and identify socially responsible actions people take within their school and community. They will also develop a list of socially responsible citizens from the community to interview.

The Untouchables Seminar, represented by Jacob Messenger, won this week's seminar competition. Jacob downed four opponents in the Wii Slice Game to capture the victory. The Championship match was against the teachers represented by Mr. Mannebach. The Untouchables will be treated to donuts next week. Jacob you rock!!!!!!

Building Community

Today's theme is Community. Students are drawing their vision of the Kingman community by making maps of Kingman. They will later identify locations, contacts, and resources that will be central to their areas of concern. (The Elderly Community, Recycling, and Community/School Spirit) Each grade level was responsible for a different quadrant of Kingman divided along Main and 54 Highway. At the same time we are working on developing a sense of community within our own seminar. The Untouchables Rock!!!!!
