White Cliffs Middle School

White Cliffs Middle School opened on the former grounds of Kingman High School downtown on Grandview Avenue in the fall of 2006. Previously "junior high" had been configured as 7-8, but with the opening of a second school for middle grades in town, the two middle schools became grades 6-8. The school is named after the White Cliffs Wagon Trail, a route west of town used in the late 1800s to transp

ort ore from the Stockton Hill Mines to the railroad. The wagon wheel ruts and stubbing post holes were worn deep into the rock over time and are still visible today. In preparation for the opening of the new school, community input was solicited for the school's name, colors, and mascot, and the White Cliffs Middle School Wolves were born. The location on Grandview Avenue was to be short-lived, however, as the community passed a bond election for new school construction shortly thereafter. A new school was built, and between semesters during the 2010-2011 school year, the Wolves relocated to their current home on Prospector Street. Although the wagon trail was approximately six miles to the west, the school maintained its name and mascot. White Cliffs offers a variety of avenues for students to excel: in academics, athletics, the Arts, and activities. Our Cambridge Preparatory Academy provides a challenging international curriculum to prepare our students for the opportunities they will encounter in our ever-expanding global economy. We currently offer three seasons of athletic opportunities: fall (football, volleyball, cross country, and spirit line), winter (basketball and spirit line), and spring (baseball, softball, track). We regularly have band and art students recognized for their hard work and dedication to their pursuits. Club opportunities include Student Council, Chess Club, MATHCOUNTS, Art Club FIRST Lego League (Robotics), and Drama Club. For 2014-2015 we will be forming a National History Day Club. Students are always welcome to find faculty sponsors and form new clubs as well. Our students have many opportunities to participate in educational field trips. They have traveled to such places as the Renaissance Festival, the Hoover Dam, The Mob Museum, Catalina Island, AstroCamp, the CSI Experience, and the Children's Discovery Museum. We are always looking for ways to expand our students' horizons. At White Cliffs Middle School, we expect everyone to live up to our school motto -- "Be Better."
